Show SOCIETY NEVS In honor of Mr. and Mrs. Walter M. Liddiard, who were recently married, a party was given Thursday Thurs-day evening at the home of the brine's parents Mr- and Mrs. Will Donaldson. A pleasant evening was spent playing games and with social so-cial chat. Later a tasty luncheon was served to the honor guests Mr. and Mrs. Peay, Mr. and Mrs. Liddiard, Liddi-ard, Miss Alice Reynolds, Mrs. Haroldine Rasmussen of Provo, Dv. and Mrs. Fred Hardy, Arthur Rn-nolds Rn-nolds of Salt Lake, Mr. and Mrs John K. Johnson, Mr. and Mrs. Dergus Hutchings, Mr. and Mrs Mark Hanson, Wayne Carter (1 Spanish Fork, Mr. and Mrs- A. W Harmer, Miss Emily Martin, Waltei and Elizabeth Harmer, Mr. ant Mrs. Reynolds Harmer, Miss Ilai Stevenson and Mr. and Mrs- Selvo; Boyer of this city. Members of the Springville-Provo F.rjdge club met Wednesday eve-! ning at the home of Mrs. Rose I Roylance in this city. Mrs. J. N. Crawford won the bridge hi.gh score prize and the second favor went Mrs. Ann Johnson. The consolation con-solation award was presented to Mrs. Golda Woodward. The following follow-ing were served a delicious luncheon: lunch-eon: Mrs. Floss Cates, Mrs. Josephine Joseph-ine Brinton of this city, Mrs. Cora Shields, Mrs. May Olsen, Mrs. Gold-i Woodward, Mrs. Emma Crawford. Mrs. Ann Johnson and V.rs. Effie Hardy. Miss Hilda Clegg was hostess to the members of the N. I. P. club at her home Saturday evening. The party marked the opening of the club for this season. Progressive j "500" was the principal feature of I entertainment with high score prize awarded to Mrs- Fred Brown of Provo. Other guests included Miss Luell Straw, Mrs. Max Packard. Pack-ard. Mrs. Alton Packard, Miss Ethel Taylor, Miss Mabel Averett, Mrs. Russell Chllds, Mrs. Eldon Palfreyman, Palfrey-man, Mrs. Howard Jensen. A delicious de-licious lunch was served by the hostess at 11 o'clock. Members of the Home Culture club of this city will be entertained enter-tained Friday afternoon at the home of Mrs. H. Mcbougall. A nice program is arranged for the occasion. occas-ion. All members are invited to be present. Mrs. Lewis Bird has returned to Bingham after spending a week with relatives and friends here. Mrs. Levi Thorpe of this city was .honor guest at a nicely arranged birthday party and dinner given by her daughter Mrs. Eva Burton and family at their home on Seventeenth Seven-teenth South street, Salt Lake Citv Monday evening, the occasion being be-ing Mrs. Thorpe's siventieth olrth-day olrth-day anniversary. Entertaining looms were pretty with late autumn flowers and a delightful time wu spent with games. music and social so-cial chat. A sumptuous chicken diviner divi-ner was served and all of the children chil-dren of Mr. and Mrs. Thorpe, were in attendance with the exception of Lewis who is in Nevada. The long dining table was centered with a beautiful birthday cake holding Mr. and Mrs. Bryan Bird and two daughters of Bingham were guests Sunday of Mr. and Mrs. W. A. Bird in this city. An enjoyable afternoon was spent by members of the Ladies' Literary club Saturday when they were entertained en-tertained at the home of Mrs. Grant Crandall. Fall flowers were used in room decorations and at 2:30 p. in. a delicious lunch was served by the hostess. Later a fine program was given in which Harry Dunder, wno recently came from the Netherlands, Nether-lands, entertained with two vocal selections accompanied by Mrs. Arthur Boyer at the piano; ttiv. Camille C. Bennion of Provo entertained enter-tained with readings. The lesson of the afternoon given in an interesting interest-ing manner by Mrs. Bert Groesbeck seventy candles and tall tapers m crystal holders burned at either end of the table. Covers were laid for Mrs. Florence Reynolds, Mr. and Mrs. H. G. Thorpe, Mr. and Mrs. A. L. Thorpe, Mr. and Mrs. Artiiur Thorpe, Howard Thorpe and Miss Helen Eggertson of Springville, Mr. and Mrs. J. A. Thorpe of Uioch" Nrv., Mr. and Mrs. Ronald Thorpe, Salt Lakc. and Mrs. Thorpe's brother and wife Mr. and Mrs. James Taylor of Lehi. Mrs. Susan Miller of Provo and Theodore Sumsion of Salt Lake City. Mrs- Rhoda Eeardall and son Owen spent several days of the pa ;t week in Logan as guests of Mr. and Mrs. Walter Raleigh. Mrs. Manferd Hutchings was hostess to the members of the Mothers' Study club at her home Friday afternoon. A splendid program pro-gram was enjoyed during which Mrs. Nell Alleman gave an interacting interact-ing review of the book "Woorlcn Swords." by Do Val and the cld J quartet including Mrs. Getie Pierce. Mrs. Beth Dallin, Mrs, Mar jorie Bird and Mrs. Nell Alleman gave two vocal selections, accompanied accom-panied on the violin by Mrs. Ileen Bird. A delicious lunch was served by the hostess to twenty-one members mem-bers and guests Mrs. Andrew Peterson, Peter-son, Mrs. Charles Stone. Mrs. Ileen Bird and Miss Eleanor Nutlall. |
