Show MANY ATTEND SERVICES FOR S. EDALTON Impressive services for Simon Eugene Dalton, prominent civic and church worker of Springville, who died Friday morning, were held Sunday in the Second ward chapel. Earl Sumsion of the ward bishopric was in charge. The speakers each of whom paid splendid tribute to the character and work of Mr. Dalton were: President J. Emmett Bird of Kolob stake, President T. N. Taylor of Utah stake and William T. Tew, superintendent of the Seminary. Miss Helen and Margaret Fox furnished vocal duets; Frank Bjarnson and Elmo Coffma.. vocal solos. The invocation was by George L. Hyde and the benediction by J. A. Reynolds. Selvoy J. Boyer dedicated the grave at the City cemetery. The high priests of Kolob stake of which Mr. Dalton had been president since the organization of the stake attended the services in a body. Mr. Dalton was born in Center-ville, Center-ville, August 1, 1852, a son of F. C. and Elnora Warner Dalton. He was the eldest of eight children, all of whom have preceded him in death. ' He was always an active L. D. S. church worker. He was a member mem-ber of the Second ward bishopric for 12 years, and served for several sev-eral years an counselor to John Johnson of the Utah staKe High Priests' quorum. He had been a member of the presidency of the Kolob stake High Priests quorum since the organization of the stake in 192G. At one time was city justice of the ve;-lt;e. alao a Pre cinct justice lor a number of years. He married Elizabeth Jane Huntington Feb. 22, 1877, who died in 1924. Surviving are six sons and daughters: Mrs. Ella Miner, Mrs. Jennie Whittaker and Oliver Dalton, Springville; Mrs. Emma Russell and Miss Hilda Dalton, Berkeley, Cal.; and Dr. S. Eugene Dalton, Atlantic City, New Jersey. He also leaves five grandchildren and seven great grandchildren. |
