The next meeting of the Ladies' Literary club will be held Saturday, Satur-day, April 12, at the home of Mrs. Margaret Grooms. A nice program is arranged for the occasion, and all members are Invited to be present pres-ent at 2 o'clock. The residence of Mr. and Mrs. M. Lyall on North Main street in tlii.-i city was the scene of a delightful delight-ful card pariy Wednesday evening when they entertained members of Die J. R, club of Springville and Provo. M r. and M is. J. N. Cra wford were awarded the progressive '500" high score prize during the evening, eve-ning, and M is. Peter Forsyth received re-ceived the consolation. Kadio music and an elaborate luncheon were also features of the occasion. These contests con-tests are sponsored by the National Agricultural Oratorical association. The marriage of Miss Leona Sumsion to Melvin Dalbey, Saturday, Satur-day, March 22, came as a surprise to her many friends here and in Salt Lake, where Miss Sumsion is employed as a teacher in the Jefferson Jef-ferson school. Mrs, Dalbey will finish teaching this year and will be at home In Oakland, California, after- June. She is the daughter of Mr. and Mrs. Daniel Sumsion of this city. An especially delightful evening was spent by relatives' Saturday evening when they were entertained entertain-ed by Mr. and Mrs. Roy Harrington Harring-ton at their ' home. ' Competitive games, during which a number of prizes were awarded and a nicely arranged program of music were enjoyable features. At 10:30 o'clock supper was served by the hostess to the following relatives present: Mr. and Mrs. James C. Simkins, Mr;- and Mrs. George Simkins. 'Mr. and Mrs. Will Phillips, Mr. and Mrs. Arthur Taylor, Mr. and Mrs. Charles Busard. all of Springville; Mr.' and Mrs. Tom Garmer, of Salt Lake City, and Mr. and Mrs. James ,,T. Simkins of Provo. Mr. and Mrs. James Anderson and their daughter, Mrs. Thelma Long, of Dividend, were guests during the past week at the home of Mr. and Mrs. Frank Warwood of this city. To Increase the fund for the new Second ward chapel, social entertainments enter-tainments of various forms will be given weekly by the different organizations or-ganizations of the ward. Among the successful parties was one given giv-en by the Elders' quorum Wednesday Wed-nesday evening in the form of a dance in the amusement hall. A large crowd "attended. A well attended social and missionary mis-sionary lecture was held Friday evening in the Springville Community Com-munity church. The Reverend Harold L. Wilson was in charge. |
