Show BRITON SAYS HE 1SJUILTY OCTOBER HALL, MOSCOW, April 18 (U.R) William MacDon-ald, MacDon-ald, one of six British citizens on trial for high crimes against the Soviet, made a second confession of guilt when called upon for his final statement today. "I confessed my guilt," he told the revolutionary tribunal, "I have nothing more to add." MacDonald's tense statement was given in an electrified room where defense attorneys had just pleaded for extenuation for the six British and 11 Russian defendants. When he sat down, the court railed upon the other five defend, ants, all of whom reaffirmed their innocence. t LONDON, April 18 (U.R) The British government shifted to a conciliatory attitude toward Russia Rus-sia today, and there were indications indica-tions from Downing street that England would not maintain an embargo on Russian trade if the Soviet did no more than deport the Britons on trial for sabotage. |
