He was born in Provo on August 27, 1Su4. His father, Thomas P. .Cloward was with the original band of pioneers led by President Brigham Young who landed in Salt Lake vallej' on July 24, 1S47. Ills mother was Mary Gardner Cloward. The family moved to Pay son in 1 859 and were prominent in building this community. commun-ity. Mr. Cloward was a blacksmith here for twelve years and later engaged en-gaged in farming very extensive'y. He did a great deal of prospecting ii: an effort to promote the mining industry in-dustry in the vicinity of Payson. He was married to Nellie Pickering Picker-ing fifty years ago. To them were born five sons and five daughters, seven of whom survive as follows: Mrs. Llllie Wilson, Thomas Cloward, Jr., George Cloward , Mrs. Cora Lamb and Cleveland Cloward of Payson, Mrs. Ilattio Richmond of Provo and Wells Cloward of Rupert, .
