Acting as spokesman for the delegation. dele-gation. J. o. Stone of Vineyard stated that the citizens and taxpay-frs taxpay-frs of that section had waited patently pa-tently for their turn to receive consideration con-sideration at the hands of the board, and declared that a great majority of citizens in the north and central section of the county shared the view that work on his project should he commenced next year. "I am very much interested in roads leading into the larger centers of the county, said President T.' N. Taylor, who championed in ardent fashion, the cnuse of those present. "The big taxpayers of the county are entitled to consideration when it comes to improving the arteries leading into Provo, and other towns of the county," President Taylor vontinued . "You ought to go to almost any txtreme measure to complete this road, as it serves a vast territory tinntsido of Provo as well as the I business interests of this city. "I think I have never heard a man criticize a public official for spending spend-ing money for road improvement. Good roads are the greatest factors in building a community into which they lead. The people of that district dis-trict are duly entitled to have that gap closed." Bishop W. W. Taylor implored the commission to make a close survey sur-vey of the county's finances with a view of providing for this project. L. L. This aggressive attitude taken by Mr. Bunnell came after he had been told by Commissioner Niel Dahle who chnmpions Spanish Fork's cause in the commission, that he didn't think the board could comply with the request of the delegation, and intimated that the board would not care to raise the tax levy for such a purpose. "I don't think any man would ever kick over a slight raise in his taxes for road improvement. Every driver of an automobile knows that he is losing more by driving over bad roads than any raise in taxes would amount to," said Harry Gammon Gam-mon of Vineyard. Similar views were expressed by Elmer Iloldaway of Vineyard. Justice of the Peace H. W. Jacobs of Pleasant Grove called attention to the great amount of traffic that is driven over the lower county road He stated that more than 3000 tons of tomatoes recently were hauled over that road.
