Show In The Social Realm Mrs. Manilla Brown Reporter, Phone 146 Miss Vesta Anderson, daughter of Dr. and Mrs. John Anderson, has been released from a very successful., success-ful., mission filled in the eastern states, .and is spending two weeks visiting in AVnshington, Philadelphia Philadel-phia and other places of interest before returning to her home. Mrs. A. O. Thorn and son Bryce left Wednesday for Kennilworth. where they will spend several days wilh Mr. Thorn. The Christian Endeavor Society of the Community church of this city went in a body Wednesday evening to the home of Miss Ivu Dell Murphy, at Puyson, where she was delightfully surprised. Miss Murphy has been an active melnber of the Christian Endeavor ilnd is leaving in the near future with her father, Rev. Murphy,, for California. Dr. and Mrs. Glenn Neill and family spent the week end at Rich field with Dr. Neil's mother, Mrs. II. K. Neil. They had as their guests last week Mr. and Mrs. J. W. Anderson and daughter Marion and Miss Anna Neill of Salt Lake, and George Case of St. George. Mrs. rhul Thorn left Wednesday for Ephraim. where she will spend a two weeks' vacation with friends. Eldon Palfreyman, son of Mrs. Lydia Palfreyman, and Miss Afton Jones, daughter of Mrs. June Jones of Spanish Fork were married Wednesday, Wed-nesday, June L in the Salt Lake teinp'e. The young couple will make their home in Springville. after spending two years in Canada most of which time he spent with his aunt Mrs. Wilkes HLreaper. One of the most unique parties of this season was given Saturday evening when the "Rats", local fraternity fra-ternity of the Springville high school, were entertained at a banquet ban-quet at the home of .lay Anderson. Favnrs were carried out in the bat colors of black and white. Decorations Decora-tions of weird winged creatures were cleverly arranged about the entertaining rooms. Cuests were sealed, and a sumptuous supper served at one long table. The out going officers of the club were toasted and responded witli clever witticisms and anecdotes. The new officers were feted and extold. At 10:30 the guests were taken in cars which were driven by special liveried liv-eried chauffeurs to Provo where the evening's enterfaihinent was con eluded at Hansen's with dancing, and games. Mrs. Amos Brown of Los Angeles. Calif., formerly of Springville is spending several days here wit h relatives and friends. Prior to her visit here she sent several days in Provo with her son. Charles and family who will acc-niiny her hack to California where they cx-Ipeet cx-Ipeet to make their home. A pleasant social aTfair of the week end was the party given Friday Fri-day evening at the home of Dr. and Mrs. Glenn Neill by members of the Saturday afternoon card club, in honor of Mr. and Mrs. P. A. Smith. The decorations, consisting of red poppies, were arranged about the entertaining rooms and centered the ! small tallies, at which a. dainty I luncheon was served. Auction bridge played at five tables furnished the (vening's diversion, during which game Mrs. John Mendenhall won high score prize for the ladies, aud John Mendenhall the gentlemen's. Mrs. Eliza Thorn was hostess at an informal dinner party Sunday. Those present were her children. Mr. and Mrs. Will Frdnian and tw children of Bingham. Dr. and Mrs. Mark Bringburst and two children of Salt Lake, and sister Mrs. Xnrah Clyde of this city. Arthur C. Boyer, who has been laboring as a missionary in the northern states mission, came hmne this week on account of ill health. Mr. and Mrs. Arthur Reeves and family of Hinkley.
