Show HEALTH COURSE OFFERS MANY ADVANTAGES Dr. L. L. CulHmore. of Provo, who is engaged in public health service in Utah county, has been prevailed upon to Rive a course i:v public health in Springville, under the direction of the Extension division di-vision of Brigham Young univer sity. j Dr. Cullimore, who had his train- ing at Geortre Washington univer- i si ty and spent his internship in I some of the largest hospitals in I Washington, D. C, where he had j an opportunity to work with some of the nations greatest specialists. Is especially well prepared to give such a course. He has an unusual interest in children . and in their health culture. The class has met once or twice already in the public library building, build-ing, but the Extension division is eager to secure a larger attendance attend-ance in order to make the class worth Dr. Cullimore's time and in order to reach a greater number 1 of people with the latest messages on health especially as it is con- 1 ccrncd with preventive methods, such as diet, correct rest, and ; other items which contribute to the welfare of growing children. Professor H. R. Merrill, who visited visit-ed the class Tuesday evening in be- : half of the extension division, said ' that the class ought to be increased 1 to twenty. Members of the class who were present were so enthusi- ' astic for the course that they do- ' clared they would do what they ' i could to interest other teachers as well as mothers in the matter as they felt that a health clinic of the I sort that will be carried on will be of great benefit to the community. : Although Brigham Young university uni-versity offers five hours credit for the course, Professor Merrill said that those who desired to do so could take it without bothcrinj; with the preparation merely for (the good that could be had from : listening to the lectures. Dr. Cullimoro expects to lay a ,: brief foundation for health study and then I to make the course as practical as possible by studying specific cases and by introducing projects for members of the clays ;' to follow out. ; ' Tuesday evening tho doctor discussed dis-cussed the central nervous system i and gave many valuable hints for its care and sustenance. Later h" will take up the various systems of j the body and then will give discussions dis-cussions as to their care, as he Is especially conceived with preventive prevent-ive rather than curative measures. |
