The president reported re-ported that fifty-five pillows, all of which were very beautiful, had been donated to the legion to be sent to the disabled soldiers at Whipple Barracks, Arizona. Bird to arrange a Hallowe'en party to be given in the ward social hall next Saturday evening. The purpose of the party will be to raise funds for the benefit of the religion classes of that ward. Mrs. Hugh Eaxter and children accompanied her husband to Salt Lake during .the past week, where she will visit relatives while Mr. Baxter attends teachers' institute. At the baby clinic held here Wednesday, Wed-nesday, October 19, nearly seventy babies were examined. Doctors Floyd Cullimore and Smith of Pro-vo Pro-vo were examining physicians. ( One of the leading social rffairs of the past week was given Thurs-: Thurs-: day in the form of a tea by a num- ber of ladies of the Community to those who contributed. The clos- ing prayer was offered by Augusta . Erdman, after which dainty re-, fi-eshments were served to twenty-two twenty-two members and six visitors. The Legion hopes soon to begin the jelly drive also for the disabled soldiers. Will Dyett of Soldier Summit spent two days of this week with his family at Springville. An enjoyable dinner was given Sunday by Mrs. D. O. Ashcraft at her home in compliment to Mr3. Millie Hinch, who is visiting here from Dover, Idaho. Other out-of-town guests included Mrs. Frank Fullmer, Mr. and Mrs. Lewis Fullmer, Full-mer, and Miss Zelda Brewster;' all of Salt Lake. j In a letter received by Mr. and Mrs. Earl Condie from their son Arthur, who is doing missionary work in California, he stated that he had recently been entertained at a dinner by Mr. and Mrs. Jack Hoskins at their home in Santa Barbara. Mrs. Hoskins was formerly former-ly Anis Smith of this city. A pleasant social affair of the week end was given Thursday evening eve-ning when Mrs. Lee Sumsion entertained enter-tained the members of the Social Twelve card club at her home. Progressive five hundred was played, play-ed, with Mrs. G. D. Kennedy win- noon at the home of Mrs. Ellen Mc-Kenzie. Mc-Kenzie. A nicely arranged program with Mrs. Mji-tle Harrison in charge, was given as follows: Community Com-munity singing, led by Mrs. Mary Wheeler; prayer, Mrs. Ellen Mc-Kenzie; Mc-Kenzie; readings, by Dona Dillingham. Dilling-ham. Elsie McC'urdy and Bernice Tipton; the history of her father, Oscar M. Mower was given by Mrs. Mabel Kindred; Miss Fannie Rowland Row-land gave the history of the tabernacle, tab-ernacle, also the organ, and the life of a number of pioneer musicians mu-sicians of Utah; Mrs. Myrtle Harrison Har-rison gave a report of the recent meeting held in Salt Lake. She stated that the Philadelphia council had asked that the Daughters of the Pioneers make a flag emblematic of the organization of Utah and I that this camp would begin working work-ing upon it. Delicious refreshments refresh-ments vcre served by the hostess assisted by Mrs. Elsie Condie, Mrs. Daniel Sumsion and Mrs. Mary Wheeler to thirty members and guests. |
