D. Firmage, manager of the Provo J. C. Penny company store of the purchase of the twenty stores operated by the Golden Rule company, com-pany, with headquarters in Ogdcn, by the J. C. Penney company. The latter organization owns and oper-i oper-i ates 885 stores throughout the country. The deal involving the consolidation of the Golden Rule Mercantile company with the J. C. Penney company is the largest of its kind evar put through in this section and involves a consideration considera-tion of more than 52,000,000 according accord-ing to a statement made by E. I.I. Tower, vice president of the Golden Rule Mercantile company and one of the largest stockholders in that organization. Negotiations were completed in New York City on October 4, with the J. C. Penney company reprc-I reprc-I sented by Earl C. Sams, President after two years' consideration of I the policies governing the change. I The stores involved will start operation op-eration under the J. C. Penney company name on January 1, 192, following the annual inventory of both companies and the J. C.
