Mendenhall and Mr. and Mrs. Ehnev Jiird visited visit-ed in Salt Lake City last Saturday. Monday evening n delightful party wiis given at the Mendenhall home by Mrs. R. L. Mendenhall and Mrs. Arnold Lee in honor of their daughters daugh-ters Louise and Emma. After a sleighing party the guests were served ser-ved an oyster supper. The guests included Ida Evans, Evelyn Warren, Florence Carriek, Mary Halversoiv, Ralph Harmer, Welby Warren, Jesse Bird, Fay Dibble, Lewis Harmer Har-mer and Lloyd Bird. Games and music were also features of the evenings entertainment. D. II. Madson. fish and game commissioner com-missioner and Deputy Joseph Allen ' returned Sunday from Nephi where they have been to look over the elk in that section. The elk were unloaded un-loaded in Nephi in 1011, 27 in number. num-ber. Since that time thoy have increased in-creased very fast. At the present time there are between six and seven hundred of them. At one time Mr. Alien reports that they saw four herds traveling, wilh one hundred head in a herd. Also they have seen r,tP head of deer. The range looks good and the animals are in good condition. At the evening meeting held in the Mnplcton ward chapel last Sunday. Oscar Kirkham of Salt Lake City, executive secretary of the M. I. A. presented Carrol and Howard Waters, Leslie limits! and Glenn Ilolloy, the Mapleton M. I. A. male quartet with gold pins for winning the "M" men male quartet contest, at the June conference in Salt Lake Citv last. June. On one side of tile pins is inscribed in-scribed the words "M" Mens Quartet 1023," and on the other side the monogram "M. I. A." also the motto -Prove Thv Faith by Thy Works." In his address Mr. Kirkham explained ex-plained the reason the awarding had been delayed so long and encouraged the quartet to continue on in their excellent work. After the meeting Mr. Kirkham and about twenty friends repaired to the home o Mr. and Mrs. C. W. Houtz where hey were entertained with singing by the quartet and amusing stories told by Mr. Kirkham. Kirk-ham. Mr. and Mrs. Harry Lee of Salt Lake City were the guests Sunday of Mr. and Mrs. J. H. Lee. M.rs George Milne and son Ronald of Mamoth were visitors in Maple-ton Maple-ton last week. Mr. and Mrs. T'pton Cherrington and Mr. and Mrs. Jay Averett and children of Springville were Sunday dinner guests of Mr. and Mrs. John Lee. 4- MAPLETON NEWS. j Mr. and Mrs. Xorris Rinks have gone to Salt Lake City where they will attend the L.
