Jan. 1C Breeders and feeders of live stock from all sections sec-tions of the corn belt and the Western West-ern range states are grooming up their best individuals and herds for the Eighteenth Annual National Western Stock- show scheduled for Denver the week of January 19 to 20, 1924. Interest in the great western west-ern exposition, judging from entries and inquires received by Harry L. Youngerman, general manager of the shown, is high and indications are that the largest crowds in history his-tory will gather to pass judgement on the aristocrats of the domestic animal kingdom assembled in the competition. That the coming National Western West-ern show will be larger and .better in almost every department is indi-: cated by a survey of the entry list, j Entries of breeding cattle In- the single class are larger than those of a year ago by more than 50 head, totaling approximately 550 individuals. individ-uals. In the dairy classes 200 individuals indi-viduals have been entered. In the swine breeding classes nearly GOO head have been listed and the sheep and horse departments will show a larger number of entries. lany Carlot Entries. It Is in the carlot division that j the National Western Stock show ' excells all other live stock expositions exposi-tions of the country. More than 45 'carloads of breeding bulls sturdy Herefords, fjhorthorns and Aber-, Aber-, deen-Angus will appear in the show ring and the sale ring at the coming show. But 28 carloads were entered last year. Fifteen cnrloniiK of breeding heifers, compared with 7 carloads in 1923, are listed for the j eighteenth annual event. Sixteen carloads of fat cattle and 65 carloads car-loads of hogs are entered in the car-lot car-lot classes. In the carlot feeder cattle cat-tle classes, entries to date total 1021 carloads, but enough stragglers are in sight to bring this total up to 125 cars. More than 300 carloads' of pure bred feeder cattle will be I sold at auction during stock show j week. Horse Show, Too. 1 The National Western Horse ! show, held in connection with the 1 Stock show will be the most brilliant bril-liant equine event ever staged in1 the west. Announcement is made 1 that Loula Long Combs, of Kansas City, will be there with a carload of harness horses and a carload for the saddle horses. Waite Phillips of Highland ranch, Littleton, Colo-j rado, has entered nine head of hunt-1 ers, jumpers, saddle and harness horses. Mrs. Edna Cudahy Brown, ! of California, will be here with hunters.
