Show PROVO GETS A. A. U. SKATE TOURNAMENT Officials of Tournament Are Chosen by Homer Christen-sen, Christen-sen, Chairman of Meet. Homer Christenson, chairman of tho ice skating committee of the A. A. U., has announced that the annual an-nual skating tournament of the organization or-ganization has been definitely assigned to Provo. The tournament will be staged on Smith's lake Saturday, Sat-urday, January 17. Provo and American Fork were In the race for the meet and for several sev-eral days it looked as though It may bo given to the northern city. The athletic committee of the Young university, uni-versity, however, agred to give medals to the winners and me city recreational department agreed to clear tho ice from snow. This resulted re-sulted in the selection of Provo for the holding of the tournament. More than 100 persons were on 1 Smith's lake Saturday to clear the snow away from the ice, nceording to Prof. H. K. Merrill of the Young university. Three teams assisted in the work and a most excellent skating skat-ing place was made. No danger exists of drowning as the water on the skating place is only seven inches deep and is frozen solid to the ground. "Since we were down nt the lake to clear away the snow it has been snowing some more and the work has to be done all over again," said Professor Merrill Monday.
