Brimhnll, president emeritus of the university, said in his talk before-the before-the students Monday morning. "This is but one of the reports we have had," Director Lowry Nelson declared, "Unit the week is popular and that the week's programs will be well attended." Every night of the week, accord-, accord-, ing to the present program, will be a special night for visitors. These free programs Will begin Monday ' night with the regular annual 1 Leadership week get-acquainted ball ; in which faculty and patrons are to mingle and become acquainted ' with one nnother. The succeeding 1 nights will each offer its own at-' at-' traction. Tuesday night will be ! dramatic night; Wednesday night, 1 music night; Thursday night will ! be pageant and orchestra night, and Friday night will be given over to the high school for the presentation of "The Gypsy Queen," an operetta. The committee, according to Director Nelson, is devoting much i- time to the problem of the handling b of the crowd in the most efficient ! manner. Last year, visitors came from long distances for special work e only to find that the class rooms i. were overcrowded and they were unable to gain admittance. This j. year, some scheme will be devised Important Committee Appointments Ap-pointments Given Utah County Representatives. (Specif' To The Herald) SALT LAKE CITY, Jan., 14. Utah county members of the house of representatives of the state legislature legis-lature now in session in Salt Lake City were given important committee commit-tee positions when the roster of committees com-mittees was announced late Tuesday afternoon by Speaker W. E. McKelL The four Utah county representatives representa-tives were given: a total of 14 committee com-mittee appointments and three chairmanships. J. O. Stone of Vineyard wns appointed ap-pointed chairman of the state mental men-tal hospital committee, of which Mrs. Ascha E. Paxmaa of Provo is also a member. The chairmanship of the manufacturing manu-facturing and commerce committee wns given tej James H. Gardner of Lehl. X. G. Christenson of Salem, the only Utah county representative who was a member of the Inst legislature, legis-lature, is the head of the penitentiary peniten-tiary and prison committee. Mr. Gardner and Mr. Stone were given four committee appointments each, while Mrs. Paxman and Mr. Christenson were appointed to three important) committees. The three committees of which Mrs. Pnvman is a member are the education, state mental hospital and tho University of Utah and Utah Agricultural college committees. Mr. Gardner wai given membership member-ship in the agricultural, appropriations, appropria-tions, irrigation and manufacturing and commerce committees. Mr. Stone was appointed to the real estate and insurance, .irrigation, revenue and taxation and state mental men-tal hospital committees. Mr. Christenson Is a member of the highways and bridges, penitentiary peniten-tiary and prison, and public build-lugs build-lugs and grounds. that will guarantee that every legi-. legi-. tlimite visitor shall have access to ie the courses he or she may desire to )t attend. A system of tickets has been, suggested and may he worked j out. These tickets, Director Nelson "' said, will be furnished free to ap-! ap-! plicnnts, and seats will be reserved for those holding tickets. Either Ibis or some other method will be tvorked out that will give every visitor the opportunity of getting - the most in his particular line to I take back to his people. In addition. addi-tion. Director Nelson announces a syllabus of many of the speeches of most: of the visitors will be furnished furnish-ed to those who care to take them back to their own communities. In order to accommodate the people peo-ple in a better manner, added courses will be offered this year. In this way the registrants will be divided until liie rooms of tho in-1 stitlitlon will accommodate the various sections comfortably. Several Interesting exhibits are being niTiiiiged .according to E. H. Faslmoiid, director of exhibits. These exhibitions will range from oil paintings to furnilure and dress and minerals. Although lack of room will not permit extensive exhibition, ex-hibition, nrt and allied features will be displayed. |
