TN. jrx - FATHER AND SON STRICKEN WHILE WIFE, MOTHER SEES THEM ENVELOPED IN FLAMES Double Funeral To Be Held In Springville Second Ward At 2 0 'clock This Afternoon; After-noon; Interment In City Cemetery. Double funeral services for William T. Wignall, who was instantly killed by lightning Sunday afternoon, and his son Mark Wignell, who died Monday morning from shock and severe burns which he suffered at the same time, will be held in the Springville Second ward chapel, Thursday afternoon at 2 o'clock, with Bishop William Wainwright in charge. The tragedy was witnensed by Mrs. William Wignall, who was sitting sit-ting in the family automobile nearby. She had been with them a short time before, but left as the storm become worse. Looking across the field following follow-ing a heavy bolt of lightning. Mrs. Wignall saw her husband and son enveloped- in flames. The bolt hurled the elder Wignall to the ground and threw - Mark several rods. Mrs. Wignall rushed to the men and tore the burning clothes from their bodies. She then ran to the Diamond ranch close by and called for help. According to Dr. John Anderson, who was summoned to the scone, the elder Wignall's death was instantaneous. in-stantaneous. The young man was removed to n Springville hospital, where he died this morning. The hay forks, with which tha men were working, were splintered by the lightning bolt. William Thomas " Wignall wai born November 29, 1878, in Pay. son, the son of Mr, and Mrs. Jamej Wigiitill. He had lived in Springville Spring-ville practically all of his life, and had been engaged in farming.. Survivors Are Listed In addition to his parents he U survived by his widow, Mrs. Zella Harmer Wignall, two daughters, Mrs. Lcona Hales of Draper, Mrs. Blanche Tew of Springville, and six grandchildren. He also leaves the following brothers and sisters: K. J. Wignall, Salt Lake; Frank Wignall, Springville; Charles Wignall. Wig-nall. Provo; Mrs. Hattie Allen. Springville; Mrs. Maggie Daley, Springville; Mrs. Hulon Avorett, Springville, Mrs. Theo Hatch, Provo. Mark Wignall was born in Springville, October 9, 1900. and had always lived there. He attended at-tended the public schools of Springville Spring-ville and the Springville high school. Surviving arc his widow, Mrs. Mildred Warren Wignall, one daughter, Oipha, 4, and one son, La Mark, 2. Also his mother, Mrs. Zella Harmer Wignall, and two sisters, Mrs. Leona Hales of Draper and Mrs. Blanche Tew of Springville. |
