Show I SOCIETY H The Gleoner class of the Second ward Mutual Improvement association associa-tion were delightfully entertained Thursday evening at the home of Miss Jessie Alleman. "The Bridge of San Luis Key" was given in an pspecially interesting manner by Mrs. Mae Huntington, following which a delicious lunch vas served by the hostess to 27 members of the class and invited guests present. Miss Maud Tuckfield and Mrs. A. II. Kinnerlsey of Salt Lake City ointertuined at a prettily arranged luncheon Saturday at their home in Stanley place , complimentary te Miss lone Palfreyman of Springville, Spring-ville, a bried-clect. A basket of summer flowers formed an attractive attrac-tive centerpiece for the long dining table. Appointments were in bridal design and places were marked for Hi guests. In honor of Mrs- Mary Starr of alt Lake City, whose birthday occurred oc-curred last Wednesday a number of relatives, including Mr. and Mrs. C. A. Starr and daughters Pearl, Anna and Inez of this city and Mrs. W- White of Spanish Fork and Mrs. Mary Starr motored to Lagoon where a delicious birthday luncheon lunch-eon was served and other features of the resort were enjoyed. The descendants of the late Ben- jamin Franklin Taylor and wife, Anna Mennels Taylor, will hold a reunion in thi3 city, September 25. The late Benjamin F. Taylor was born in Pittsfield, Mass., August 4, 1805. Only two" members of the original family are left, Mrs. Jane Taylor, 81 years of age, and Mrs. Enzell Taylor Bringhurst, 79 years old, both of Springville. An especially enjoyable day was i spent by the Trailbuilders and Third group boys of the Fourth Ward Primary, when they were 1 taken in cars to Kelley's Grove, Hobble Creek canyon, Saturday. Accompanying them were instruc- : tors, Mrs. Mary Reed, Mrs. Heber Livingston, Mrs. John Hardy and ! Mrs. A. L. Thorpe, also Mrs. Hattie Blackett, president of the ward association. as-sociation. Following a program of games and races, a delicious lunch was served to 35 members of the two classes and guests. Mr. and Mrs. Otto Burton and family of Salt Lake were guests over Sunday of Mr. and Mrs. Levi Thorpe and other relatives here. Mr. and Mrs. Andrew Peterson of this city went to Maple Dell Wednesday evening to attend the annual outing of lumbermen of this county and their partners. An especially espe-cially enjoyable time was had by all. About 50 guests were present, j Dancing and lunch were outstanding outstand-ing features of the affair. A number of little friends were entertained by Mrs. Elliot Bird Saturday Sat-urday in compliment to her daughter daugh-ter Marie, whose ninth birthday occurred that day. A variety of games were enjoyed on the lawn, following which a nicely arranged birthday lunch was served to the following guests: Danna Grant, Etta and Norma Fullmer, Marion and Anna-Mae Hughes of Los Angeles, An-geles, Reva Bird, Emma Ulock, Bobbie Blackett, Gean Bird, Clark Bird, Ted Clark, Guy Bird and Lois Brown. Mr. and Mrs. Ivan Child were guests over the week-end at a "well arranged and enjoyable canyon party given by Mr. and Mrs. Shirley Shir-ley Bee at their summer cabin in Vivian park. The affair was given in honor of Mrs. Sam Jepperson and daughter Jeanne, who are visiting vis-iting from Los Angeles. Thirty-two members of the families fam-ilies of T. E. Child, Sr., motored to Liberty park. Salt Lake City, Sunday and participated in an especially espe-cially enjoyable family reunion. A family dinner was served at one long table. All the children and grandchildren were present except Ralph Child, son of T. E. Child, Jr., who is in the Canadian L. D. S. mission field. Covers were laid for the following people. Mr. and Mrs. T. E. Child, Jr., and family, Mr. and Mrs Will Child and family, Mr. and Mrs. George Peterson and children, chil-dren, Mr. and Mrs. Lee Snow, Mr. and Mrs. Andrew Peterson and children chil-dren and T- E. Child, Sr. In honqr of her little son, Richard, Rich-ard, whose third birthday occurred Tuesday, Mrs. Ed Crandall entertained enter-tained at a nicely arranged party at her home in the afternoon. A prettily pret-tily decorated cake formed an attractive at-tractive centerpiece for the dining table. Following an hour of games, supervised by the hostess. A dainty lunch was served to a large crowd of little friends present. Mr. and Mrs. C. E. Plumredge and son of Los Angeles were guests during last week at the home of Mr. and Mrs. W. L. Grooms. John F. Averett was delightfully surprised at his home Sunday afternoon after-noon by his children and their families. fam-ilies. A pleasant time was spent with music, games and social chat. Later, a tasty luncheon was served to about 20 members of the family and invited guests present. ; Mr. and Mrs. E. Knudsen were j guests at a reception given in honor of Harold Knudsen and wife of Amherst, Am-herst, Mass., who are visiting in Provo. Dinner was first served at the Roberts hotel, after which the guests assembled at the home of Mrs. Amanda Knudsen, where music mu-sic and a general social were enjoyed. en-joyed. The honor guests, who were recently married, were presented i with a silver set by the family. They : will leave soon on a honeymoon ' tour of the United States. A number of friends formed a party Wednesday afternoon and motored to Saltair, where bathing, a lunch and many other attractive features of the resort were enjoyed. Those included in the party were: Mr. and Mrs. H. T. Rynolds, Jr., Mr. and Mrs. A. G. Johnson, Mr. and Mrs. E. E Knudsen, Mr and Mrs. Charles Boyer, Dr. and Mrs. G. G. Neill, Mr. and Mrs. John Men-denhall Men-denhall and Dr and Mrs. Wallace Mace of Salt Lake City. The following relatives formed a party and spent the week-end with Mr. and Mrs. Fred Averett at East Portal in Strawberry. Fishing Fish-ing and general picknicing were greatly enjoyed by the following people : Mr. and Mrs. E. O. Hall and family, Mrs. Lester Hall and children of Rigby, Idaho, Mr. and Mrs. Rulon Averett and family, Mr. and Mrs. Lionel Averett and Mr. and Mrs. Ed Johnson of Salt Lake City. |
