Show Getting Technical About It Just what is "fishing," anyway? . .Recently, several earnest worm-drowners and fly-soakers have been haled before various justices in the United States, accused of fishing in restricted waters. Invariably, they have advanced the defense that they hadn't caught any fish. Sometimes the defense worked; sometimes it didn't. Of course, if a man with a creel over his shoulders stands on a stream bank and dangles a fly over the water he may just be. doing it for exercise or posing for an artist or studying study-ing nature, or even trying for the rod-holding endurance record.' ' But, on the other hand, he's probably fishing. And, in the interests of conservation, if he's fishing where he should not, he ought to be punished. |
