Show POULTRYMEN GET REFUND ON BABYCHICKS SALT LAKE CITY, May 2S. Tiiat the co-operative idea is being be-ing more fully developed in Flab is evuioneou uy tne tact mat tlie Utah Poultry Producers Co-operative association, the marketing organization or-ganization of (he poult rymen of Utah, has recently mailed out to all members who purchased their baby chicks through the association associa-tion this spring a refund check on the basis of 1M;C ihh' chick . At first thought this does not seem to the casual observer to amount to much, but considering the fad that many producers buy from one to five thonsa nd baby chicks, it reaches into substantial figures. "This refund has been made possible," poss-ible," explains Clyde C. Edmonds, secretary and general manager of the association, 'through the fact that most of the orders for baby chicks were secured by mail, thereby there-by eliminating the unnecessary ex-IHMise ex-IHMise .of field men to secure the orders. "The state association," Mr. Edmonds Ed-monds explains further, "selects very carefully the hatcheries from which it purchases the baby chicks for distribution among Us members, and wherever Hissihle preference has been shown by the association for Utah hatched chicks. Quality has never been sacrificed for price, but through its purchasing power and through inexpensive methods of handling and securing orders, and the distribution of the chicks, the association has been able to make this refund to lis member producers. produc-ers. 'lit Is refreshing to note that through the cooperatives which have been established in Utah through the efforts of tbe Utah Slate Farm bureau, the 'rali ur off process is being made in favor of the producer rather Iban against him." |
