Show "THE WANDERER" The largest motion picture set ever consti-ucted and the greatest number of persons ever used for oue scene in an American made motion picture are two of the outstanding features of""The Wanderer," famous Biblical spectacle, which Raoul Walsh directed for Paramount, and which opens for a 2 days' run at the Star Theatre on Wednesday, June 2. The scene, wfiich is that of an unnamed un-named Biblical city, was built in the foot-hills of Santa Monica, Cali-i Cali-i fornia, and covers many hundred neres of ground. More than two hundred hun-dred carpenters and scores of technical tech-nical n.-sistants were at work for more than three weeks constructing construct-ing -the hundred massive buildings and walls for the set. For the scene depicting the destruction de-struction of the city by earthquake and fire, thousands of actors were used as well as hundreds of lions, tigers, elephants and camels. "The Wanderer" according to critics crit-ics is the most titantie film effort of the season. More than two years were spent preparing for the production, pro-duction, and four months were required re-quired for the actual filming. Many thousnnds of costumes were prepared, pre-pared, occupying the time of one hundred seamstresses for almost a month. Two crews of men, laboring labor-ing day and night, worked for Weeks constructing the huge interior sets within the studio. A score of jewelry craflsivn were engaged to construct three thousand rings, bracelets and arm bands as were used in the days before Christ. ' The cast of "The Wanderer" in-1 eludes the most distinguished acting act-ing talent in the motion picture industry. in-dustry. Among the featured players play-ers are listed such names as Ernest Torrenee, 'William Collier, ,lr., Wallace Wall-ace Beery, Tyrone Power, Greta Nlssen and Kathlyn Williams. |
