Show Grade students set operetta at Jefferson The Jefferson Fourth grade, under direction of Wayne Lun-dell, Lun-dell, teacher, will present an original operetta at the school Friday. There is to be a performance per-formance at 1:45 p.m., for students and at 7 p.m., for parents par-ents and other townspeople. Mr. Lundell has been assisted by Robert Gilhan, trainer teacher, and by Helen and Hans Hawkins Haw-kins of Spanish Fork, who assisted in setting the tunes to piano accompaniment. Entitled, "What on Earth," the operetta plot' was developed over a several-week period, students working on appropriate appropri-ate words and music. Work of the language, music, physical education and social studies were coordinated in developing the production. The plot centers around the Martains having a space race to reach the earth, their failures fail-ures and success; what they found; how they tried to teach Earthian ways to their people and their decision that their planet was pretty good after all. Those who have worked with the students describe the operetta oper-etta as having catchy tunes, cute action and witty dialogue. The program is expected to give parents and friends an opportunity to see the results of motivation of boys and girls in this age group. |
