Show Second Warders win Kolob M Men crown Second Ward's M Men team won the Kolob stake league title despite being upset in their final game and their only loss of the season to the strong finishing Eleventh Ward five 38-25 Tuesday night. Second Sec-ond will play at 9:45 Monday in the tournament. In the tournament also will be the Mapleton team which won over Sixth Tuesday night 52-40 to take second place in league standings. Sixth meets a Payson team in a playoff to determine the other tourney enterants. Athletic Supervisor, Burton Warren, presented trophies following fol-lowing Tuesday night's final game. Second received a handsome hand-some trophy, accepted by Coach Platte Watts. Mapleton coach, Ray Whiting received the basketball for second place. Individual awards to the ten outstanding stake players were presented by Boyd Wilson, Wil-son, high council representative. representa-tive. These went to Elliott Jordan Jor-dan and Glade Hales of the Sixth Ward; Gordon Smith, Marvin Fullmer, Second ward; Ron Alvey, First ward; Marvin Roundy and Benny Killpack, Twelfth ward; Frank Loftin, Eleventh ward. Buddy Gardner Gard-ner of the Eleventh was cited for his outstanding play also. MIA Superintendent Glendon Johnson praised the fine supervision sup-ervision of Mr. Warren this season. Final night's scores: Mapleton Maple-ton 2nd 29, Twelfth 38; Eleventh Elev-enth 38, Second 25, Mapleton 52, Sixth 40. Teams finished in the following order: Second, Mapleton, Sixth, Eleventh, Twelfth, First and Mapleton Second. |
