Mrs. Gordon Smith is secretary. Representing the Kolob Stake will be the champions, Second Ward and runnerup, Mapleton. Sixth will play off either to-night or Friday with a Payson ward for the other berth. Springville Stake sends Fourth and Third into the meet with Tenth getting a chance for a third team berth. The tournament will be run off Monday through Thursday in the Spanish Fork gym with trophies and awards being pre-sented Thursday following the title game. They won over Third Ward 47-3- 7 in the playoff with Hal Jensen leading the attack with 21 points. Allman got 12. For Third, Smith with 13 was high man. Team members and their season's average points per game follow: Hal Jensen (21), Roe Allman (11.1), Bill Bird '(2.6), Bill, Child (6), Mike Gabbitas (5.7), Don Parker (7), Allen Hansen (2.3), John Child (9.4), Eugene Johnson (6.3). The team is coached by Hardy Child. Second Warders win Kolob M Men crown Second Ward's M Men team won the Kolob stake league title despite being upset in their final game and their only loss of the season to the strong finishing Eleventh Ward five 38-2- 5 Tuesday night. Sec-ond will play at 9:45 Monday in the tournament. In the tournament also will be the Mapleton team which won over Sixth Tuesday night 52-4- 0 to take second place in league standings. Sixth meets a Payson team in a playoff to determine the other tourney enterants. Athletic Supervisor, Burton Warren, presented trophies fol-lowing Tuesday night's final game. Second received a hand-some trophy, accepted by Coach Platte Watts. Mapleton coach, Ray Whiting received the basketball for second place. Individual awards to the ten outstanding stake players were presented by Boyd Wil-son, high council representa-tive. These went to Elliott Jor-dan and Glade Hales of the Sixth Ward; Gordon Smith, Marvin Fullmer, Second ward; Ron Alvey, First ward; Marvin Roundy and Benny Killpack, Twelfth ward; Frank Loftin, Eleventh ward. Buddy Gard-ner of the Eleventh was cited for his outstanding play also. MIA Superintendent Glendon Johnson praised the fine sup-ervision of Mr. Warren this season. Final night's scores: Maple-ton 2nd 29, Twelfth 38; Elev-enth 38, Second 25, Mapleton 52, Sixth 40. Teams finished in the following order: Second, Mapleton, Sixth, Eleventh, Twelfth, First and Mapleton Second. Lorraine and Hilda Har-dy took the doubles event with a total score of 1131. Trophies for which included team, singles, and doubles series, were awarded to Delia Smith with top scratch score of 1580 and Joan Cragun with high handicap score of 1739.
