Show Uintas getting plane planting The plant-by-plane of more than 200 off-the-road high country Utah lakes got underway under-way late last week, department of fish and game spokesmen said today. These annual plants, made by department pilots using a specially equipped single en-gined en-gined light aircraft have proven pro-ven highly successful over the past seven years in dispersing fish into the more remote and inaccessible high mountain fishing waters. Previous plants were made into these areas by the slower, more costly method of carrying fish in milk cans on pack horses. hor-ses. Bulk of the fish to be planted plant-ed by air this year will be small native and brook trout. A majority of these will go into lakes of the high Uinta Moutnain country, with lessor numbers scheduled for planting plant-ing in waters on the Manti, Thousand Lake, Boulder, Es-calante Es-calante and Wasatch mountain sections. First plants have already al-ready been made in the lakes of these southern ranges where seasonal conditions are advanced advan-ced in comparison to the Uinta area. |
