Vernon Cook will be toast-mast- er for the meeting to be held at the Westside school beginning at 7 p.m. For many years, the Kiwan-is club has promoted Scout-ing in the community and there are more than a score of club members in Scout leader-ship, most notable of whom are W. W. Clyde, president of Utah National Parks Council and regional vice chairman and Ernest A. Strong, chair-man of Section 6 of Region 12 and a national representa-tive. Dr. William G. Dixon, chief of the surgical staff at the Utah Valley hospital, will be the guest speaker. He is presi-dent elect of the Utah Thor-acic Society and chairman of the Provo District Scouters. Dr. Dixon achieved his degree at the University of Kansas. State fish and game person-nel will cover Utah's marshes and other waterways during the January nationwide water-fowl census. The annual count is con-ducted simultaneously in all states, Canadian provinces and Mexico to determine the total waterfowl population on the North American continent. Utah game bird populations are wintering well over the state and wellmeaning individ-uals or groups are urged not to feed .them. Benefits from feeding pheas-ants, quail and otherv game birds are quickly offset as they become concentrated and are then ready prey to common predators and disease.
