Metcalf, general manager of Berg Mortuary in Springville received the annual Jaycee DSA award at the annual an-nual banquet Friday evening. Keynote speaker of the evening even-ing was J. Bracken Lee, mayor of Salt Lake City and former governor of Utah, who spoke on need to limit powers of central government. Jaycee key-man awards were presented to Ted Fletcher. John Swenson and Bill Jones. According to a resume of his activities, Mr. Metcalf served as the president of the Springville Chamber of Commerce during the past year working on many projects for the betterment of Springville and Utah County. Under his direction the chamber sponsored sponsor-ed a sidewalk bazaar, auction dollar days and Christmas prize drawings. He has worked to encourage establishment of industries in-dustries in Springville and has been active on committees working on such items as road problems, freeways, parallel parking, beautification of Main Street, Americanism, and equitable equit-able distrubition of the county coun-ty sales tax. Mr. Metcalf helped conduct the national chamber course in practical politics for local citizens cit-izens and while president of the local organization initiated many new programs in the chamber. Within his profession he recently re-cently graduated from the advanced ad-vanced technical course of the National Foundation of Funeral Fun-eral Services. He has been program chairman for the Utah Convention of Funeral Directors Direc-tors and Embalmers and is affiliated af-filiated with the National Funeral Fun-eral Directors Assoc. |
