'All parents of prospective baseball players of the Colt league are invited to attend a league meet-ing tonight in the Springville Junior High building begin-ning at 7:30 p.m. This includes parents of boys 15 and 16 years of age. Donald Blanchard, president of the league, has called the meeting and invites all inter-ested to participate in the tepis mis wk kymfis Tryout time is here for WBBA baseball enthus-iasts and three leagues are announcing theirs begin-nin-this Friday. Saturday, April 15, begin-ning at 3 p.m., tryouts for the 10, 11 and 12 year olds will be held at the same diamond. Spring Creek All boys between 9 and 12 years who wish to tryout for the Spring Creek league will do so Saturday, April 15, at 2 p.m. on the Southeast dia- - mond east of the Junior High school building. Boundary lines for the Spring Creek league include those liv-ing South of 1st South and West of 4th East. President Woodrow Hatfield is in charge. Mapleton Mapleton league tryouts will be held Friday, April 14, at 5 p.m. and Saturday at 9 a.m. on the little league diamond at Mapleton. Tyler and her students of the Gunnison high school. The entertainment which will include some 70 students, will be in the high school gymna-sium, featuring dances for fes-tive occasions, folk, ball-roo-spiritual and jazz. Tote Gote clubs are be-coming more popular thru-ou- t the area and if suffi-cient interest is shown in Springville, a similar club will bo organized here. those seeking licenses or who will be seeking licenses, should check with local sportsmen's organizations for signing up for the course. Purpose of the law is to re-duce all kinds of gun accidents and provide better safety and pleasure to persons going afield with firearms. Juveniles must qualify before license issued Juveniles planning to pur-chase a hunting license this year must be properly quali-fied in the handling of fire-arms before such a license will be issued to them. The new license year begins April 16. The law requires 14 through 16 year olds must present a certificate showing they have successfully passed the requir-ed course in gun safety, train-ing and handling before they will be issued such a license. The same training and certi-ficate is required of juveniles 17 years through 20, except those of these ages may also qualify by showing evidence of having previously been issued a hunting license, that they have received such training through the NRA, ROTC, ba-sic military training or com-parable gun training courses. Courses are being presented in communities periodically and Swimming club organized; officers named Swim enthusiasts of the Springville area have organized a new local unit of the Utah County Swimming Association, it was revealed today. Sched-ules for swimming instruction at Park Ro-Sh- e have been lv drawn up and a big enrollment drive for students is to be launched soon. To be known as the "Seals" Swim Club, the group was formed under the guidance of Bud Barnes, head of the coun-ty association. Officers in the new unit are Earl Goates, president; Ida Lewis, Mrs. Gladys Goates, sec-retary; Mrs. Edna Hansen, treasurer; Mrs. Coe Jane Weight, transportation chair-man, and Vern Tanner, publi-city director. Under the auspices of this club, qualified instructors will hold regular class sessions at the pool each Monday, Wed-nesday and Saturday. Monday and Wednesday sessions will be held between 5 and 6 p.m., and the Saturday class will meet from 11 a.m. to 12 noon. Open-ings are now available for boys and girls from five to 16. Any of the club officers may be contacted for information. The services of Dennie Doyle have been secured as instruc-tor. Mr. Doyle held records in Southern California for several years as a diving and swim-ming champion. He also travel-ed widely with an exhibition swimming and diving group called the "High Flyers." Announcement has also been released by the club of a spe-cial swimming meet to be held here May 6. Members of the "Seals" will compete in swim-ming events with watermen from Tooele, rated the best tanksters in the state. In conjunction with this meet, several specialty water acts are being secured. These will include swimming, diving, and novelty acts. Featured among them will be a special diving demonstration by a for-mer high board champion from Tooele. Licenses Utah's fish and game lic-ense year begins April 16, which means beginning that date a, proper 1961 license must be visibly displayed by all anglers afield. The new issue may not be used before April 16, with the law requiring that the 1960 license be used through April 15.
