Phil, who resides in Salt Lake City, is a member of the 144th Evacuation Hospital Unit of the National Guard which is to leave this weekend for Ft. Leonard Wood, Mo. The history of Elial Strong was given by Ora Rowland. He was the great grandfather of George Amasa Rowland. Presenting the lesson for the meeting was Rose Mower. It was on Utah's government and governors. During a dainty lunch served by Mable Kind-red and Violate Diamond, granddaughters of Mrs. Burt entertained with piano solos by Kathy Bismark and comical readings by Margie Bismark. Following the meeting the group motored to Orem to see the fallout shelter of Mr. and Mrs. D. Orlo Allen. Mrs. Al-len explained the shelter and functions and demonstrated how the equipment operated. New food class offered public Under the sponsorship of the Adult Education of the PTA of the Grant and Jefferson schools, a foods class will be given each Wednesday even-ing from 7 to 9 p.m. in the Junior high school home eco-nomics department, officers announce. New dishes and ideas for food appropriate for Christ mas will be included in the "Food for the Family" class. There will be no charge for the class and anyone interested is invited to attend. We Readers hear book review We Readers met at the home of Velma Nielson last Thursday, Oct. 12, where Mrs. Anna Taylor reviewed in an interesting manner, the book, "Family Kingdom," by Samuel Wooley Taylor. ' j Mrs. Ray Keith Daybell, the former Miss Eloise Blanchard, now at home in Provo following recent temple wedding and reception. Eloise Blanchard is married to Ray K. Daybell in temple J The Manti Temple was the setting for the wedding of charming Miss Eloise Blanch-ard, daughter of Mr. and Mrs. Donald A. Blanchard of this city and Ray Keith Daybell, son of Mr. and Mrs. Glenn Kirkwood, also of Springville. President A. Bent Peterson performed the ceremony. A reception in the Eighth ward church amusement hall, honored the newlyweds and the bride chose for the occasion a beautiful gown of lace and taffetta. The lace bodice was trimmed in seed pearls and pearlized sequins and had long tapered sleeves. The full bouf-fant taffetta skirt fell floor-lengt- h. It featured flounces on each side caught at the back with a large bow. Her veil of illusion was arranged to a crown of seed pearls and She carried a bouquet of white camillias surrounded by tiny red rosebuds and stepha-noti- s and nink satin streamers. Mrs. Carol Blanchard, sister-- in-law to the bride was matron of honor and Carolyn Bowles, Kara Lee Clements, Connie Holdaway, Kathleen McKenzie were bridesmaids with Judy Daybell, junior bridesmaid. They wore magen-ta colored sheaths and carried a huge white mum surround-ed with tiny pink crysanthe-mum- s and white streamers. Lanny Daybell was best man to his brother. Mrs. Blanchard chose a blue silk shantung and lace for her daughter's wedding and the groom's mother, wore a blue brocade sheath. Their flowers were white camilias and pink carnations. Greeting guests at the door were Mr. and Mrs. Ray Cope and Mr. and Mrs. Ted Simp-son. Ann Crandall and Connie Hatfield were at the guest re-gister. Rex Blanchard and John Charles Blanchard were ushers. Presiding over the gift room were Helen Wiscombe, Alice Crowley and Gertie Ruff, as-sisted by Paul Jay Blanchard, Karen Bjarnson and David Cope, gift bearers. Joyce Poul-se- n and Carole Blanchard were in charge of the trousseau. A beautiful wedding cake, each tier setting on a tall pink column, was decor-ated with lace, pink crysanthe-mum- s .and wedding bells. On either side were tall candles in crystal candelabra and float-ing magenta-colore- d carna-tions. The young couple are mak-ing their home in Provo, where the groom is employed. Springville DUP holds meeting Erma Hansen gave the his-tory of Nathanial Graves at the Springville DUP meeting held last Thursday at the home of Mrs. Cloe Hone. The lesson, "The Pioneer's position as regard to Law," was given by Maggie Wood. At the conclusion of the meeting, a delicious luncheon was ser-ved to twenty members attend-ing. Assisting hostesses were Frankie Averett and Mary Hatch. Mr. and Mrs. Jerry Coombs from Henderson, Nevada visit-ed Sunday with Mr. and Mrs. Fred Hansen. Mrs. Coombs is the former Thelma Hansen of Spanish Fork, a niece of Mr. Hansen's. It is falling in love with our own mistaken ideas that makes fools and beggars of half mankind. Edward Young. Mothers Study sees So. American slides Members of the Mothers Study club met at the home of Mrs. Nellie Anderson last Friday night. Refreshments were served at the beginning of the club to 22 members and guest, Mrs. Virgil Bird. Mr. and Mrs. Harrison Con-ov- er showed slides and told of their trip to South Amer-ica earlier this year. The next club meeting will be held Oct. 27 at the home of Mrs. Beulah Whiting. Assisting hostess to Mrs. Anderson for Friday's club was Edna Smart. Effan Bee Club elects officers New officers were elected at the Effan Bee club held the past week at the home of Helen Kendell. New officers named includ-ed Verlain Swenson, president; Jean Ivory, Har-riet Burt, secretary-treasure- r. The club outlined their schedule for the coming year and enjoyed a tasty luncheon. |
