Show Teacher taking science course Ruel Alma Jensen,' Springville, Spring-ville, a member of the Springville Spring-ville High School faculty, is enrolled in an academic-year institute for junior and senior high school teachers of science and mathematics now in session ses-sion at Arizona State University. Univer-sity. The 11-m o n t h institute which began Aug. 25, is sup ported by a National Science Foundation grant of $279,700. A total of 44 teachers from 26 states are enrolled in the institute, which is directed by Dr. Ernest E. Snyder, ASU associate professor of science education. The teacher-students are taking tak-ing a full course load in the sciences or mathematics either for a certificate of completion or for a master's degree in one of five science graduate programs. Purpose of the institute is to give the teachers an opportunity oppor-tunity to augument their knowledge know-ledge in the sciences and math-matics math-matics so that they not only become more erudite in these subjects but also increase their abilities to stimulate students. ASU has received more than $1 million from the NSF in grants supporting institutes for high school and college teachers. |
