Show Sumsions get big road job near Tropic J. M. Sumsion and Sons submitted sub-mitted a low bid of $394,654.60 for grading, and surfacing 4.8 miles of highway from Tropic Junction through Bryce Canyon Can-yon National Park toward Tropic. Bids were submitted Tuesday Tues-day at 10 a.m. to the U. S. Bureau of Public Roads in Salt Lake City. The contract calls for completion com-pletion within 200 days. Second low bidder was W. W. Clyde and Co. at $399,722.-20. $399,722.-20. Four other bids were submitted sub-mitted ranging from $432,222.-72 $432,222.-72 to $489,000.80. The engineer's engin-eer's estimate was $482 101. The section is part of Utah 54. About three and eight-tenths miles is to be paid for by the National Park Service. Ser-vice. Another mile will be built by the state to the west park boundary. The BPR will supervise super-vise the entire project. The construction of this section sec-tion culminates a long fight by Garfield County citizens to have a paved road linking towns east of Bryce Canyon with U.S. 89. Some 32 miles of surfaced road already has been completed by the state from Tropic to Escalante, Garfield Gar-field county. |
