The boys in turn invite in-vite their fathers and furnish them with the meal, making a delightful father-son affair. Speaker at the banquet will be Dr. Dean Walker, dean of agriculture at the Brigham Young University. He recently returned from a stay in the Far East and will tell of farming farm-ing in the foreign contries. In charge of arrangements for the FFA observance are officers: Mike Bartholomew, president; Milton Diamond, vice president; Merrill Hales, secretary; Vaughn Bushman, treasurer; Steve Dalton and Tom Bona, publicity; Eldon Fackrell, sentinel. The Springville chapter of FFA comprising some 65 members mem-bers help to make up the 3,000 state membership and the 400,000 members in the nation. To be a Chapter Farmer, the second step, he must have completed at least one year of vocational agriculture; be active ac-tive in the local chapter and have earned at least $50 from his agricultural project. To attain the State Farmer degree, a student must have completed two years as an active ac-tive chapter member and have earned $500 from his agriculture agricul-ture pursuits. The American Farmer, highest high-est attainment to be won by an FFA member requires that he has completed high school for at least one year; have productively pro-ductively earned $5000 in agriculture agri-culture projects and be active in local chapter affairs. |
