A party was given at the home of Mr. and Mrs. Lee Bartholomew Bar-tholomew Saturday evening where their son Max, who is leaving for an LDS mission to the Northern States, was the honored guest. Among the out-of-town relatives present were several aunts and uncles including in-cluding Mr. and Mrs. Laurel Leavitt and their family from Home Dale, Idaho. Their son Leon is going to the same mission mis-sion as Max and will leave at the same time. Others present pre-sent were Mr. and Mrs. L. R. Swazey from Duchesne, Mr. and Mrs. Herbert' Peterson from Spanish Fork, grandmother grandmo-ther Dudley from St. George, Mrs. Ida Horrocks from Salem, Sa-lem, Mr. and Mrs. Ivan Sovine from Provo, Mr. and Mrs. Sterling Ster-ling Durrant from Provo and grandmother, Mrs. Charlotte Bartholomew. Families of most of these relatives were also present. A well attended farewell testimonial tes-timonial for Max was given Sunday evening in the Mapleton Maple-ton ward church. Miss Marilyn Whiting, who has been making her home in New York City for the past two years, is spending two weeks visiting with her parents, par-ents, Patriarch and Mrs. Oscar Whiting in Mapleton. While here she accompanied her parents par-ents and sister Virginia to Tempe, Ariz., where they all visited with Mr. and Mrs. He-ber He-ber Olson and their family. Heber is practicing dentistry n Arizona. While in Arizona they called .it the Alma Jensen home. Marilyn spent a day in Og-; Og-; ien with Ruth Ann Jensen and j ler husband, Mr. and Mrs. !Don Clark. Marilyn will leave this week nd for New York City where ! he is employed in the Public .ibrary there. Mr. and Mrs. Alma P. As- ! el are home after an extended extend-ed visit to several members of I heir family. They motored to Nevada where they visited with heir daughter Verda (Mrs. La- ; .viont Draney) and her family. While visiting with them they attended a missionary farewell fare-well for a grandson Arvil As-:el As-:el who has left for an LDS mission to England. Going to Wendall, Idaho they were guests at the home of -heir son George and his family-Traveling to Sterling, Idaho, they stayed at the home of their daughter Verda and her husband (Mr. and Mrs. Sherman Sher-man Smith) and their family spending several days with them. From Sterling they returned to Utah where they were guests at the home of Mr. and Mrs. Henry Barnum who live in Mantua. They also visited visit-ed at the home of Mr. and Mrs. Elton Kidd in Layton and with the Ralgh Astels in White City at Sandy. While in Sandy they attended a farewell testimonial tes-timonial for a nephew, Lynn Astel. Mrs. George Astel of Wendell, Wen-dell, Idaho has been a guest at their home since their return. re-turn. Mrs. Lora Bird accompanied by Mrs. Martha Whiting and Mrs. Fern Whitney motored to Roy Friday to visit Mrs. Birds sister who is confined to a hospital there. They also visited visit-ed relatives in Ogden before returning home. Mr. and Mrs. Norris T. Binks accompanied by Mr. and Mrs. Glade Binks spent Saturday Satur-day in Bountiful with Mr. and Mrs. Blair Binks. They all enjoyed en-joyed a birthday dinner in a Salt Lake Cateteria honoring Blair and Glade whose birch-days birch-days accurred during the week Mrs. Elmer Larson and twin sons Fred and Frank of Shelley, Shel-ley, Idaho were Mapleton visitors visi-tors Saturday. They were house guests of her mother Mrs. Sanchez San-chez in Provo during their visit. vi-sit. Mrs. Margene Gottfredson is home after treatment at the Utah Valley Hospital for a ruptured blood vessel behinc one eye. Her condition is reported re-ported as fair. Mr. and Mrs. Sylvester Allan Al-lan are happy over the news of a new granddaughter born to their son David and his wife in Boulder, Colo., last week. New babies in Mapleton have arrived at the home of Mr. ano Mrs. Quinton Lowe on Sept. 18 and at the home of Mr. and Mrs. Richard Bills Sept. 28 The Lowes have a baby boy and the Bills a little girl.
