Student takes course in East A news release from the Merrill Palmer Institute in De-troit, Mich., this week stated that Judy Allen, daughter of Mr. and Mrs. Champ Allen, 610 South 1st East in this city, is studying at the institute this semester. She is a member of the class of 1962 at BYU. The Merrill-Palm- er Institute is a unique collegiate institution which, through comprehensive programs of teaching, research and community service, is a center for the study of all the things that affect normal hu-man development in mind and body and that affect the rela-tionships of human beings to each other in the family and in the community. Selected undergraduate stud- - enrs in sociology, home econ-omics, psychology, education and related fields, from 58 col-leges and universities spend a quarter or semester studying at this institute during their jun-ior or senior college years re-ceiving full credit for their work at their home universi-ties. Accident hurts two motorists Two persons were injured when a north bound car on 723 South Main, Springville, skidded 215 feet, collided with a tree and was totally demol-ished Wednesday at 5:52 p.m. Kenneth Fredrick Keate, of Salt Lake City, suffered sev-ere forehead lacerations and multiple bruises. Georgie Ames Russell, 49, a passenger in the car, suffered concusions of the leg, arm and chest and lacer-ations of the head. Both were taken to the Utah Valley LDS Hospital. Student gets honor at BYU C. Ronald VanLeuven of Springville has been elected historian of Alpha Phi Omega, national service fraternity, at Brigham Young University. He is the son of Mr. and Mrs. Clif-ford VanLeuven and is now a junior at BYU, majoring in el-ectrical engineering. Ronald graduated from the Springville High School in 1955 where he was yearbook photo- grapher and football and track manager.
