Jex of Spanish Fork is being announced this week, the wed-ding to take place June 23. Couple sets wedding here May 28 Announcement is made this week of the approaching mar-riage of Sarah Hardman of this city and Vernal Wood of Dugway, formerly of Spanish Fork. The nuptials will take place on Saturday, May 28, at 6 o'clock at Mrs. Hardman's home, Tenth South, Seventh East, with family members in attendance. Bishop F e r r i n Wood, brother of the groom-to-b- e, will officiate. Later in the evening, the couple will be honored at a reception at the Memorial Hall in Spanish Fork. Boyer also of SpringviUe is an-nounced this week. SpringviUe couple sets wedding date July 22 in Manti Temple A mid-summ- er wedding is planned by Miss Pauline L. Underwood and Marlin E. Boyer of SpringviUe, whose en-gagement is being announced this week. She is a daughter of Mr. arid Mrs. R. W. Gould of this city and Marlin's parents are Mr. and Mrs. Edward Boyer also of SpringviUe. The wedding date is set on July 22, the ceremony to take place in the Manti LDS Temple. The bride-ele- ct will graduate from high school next week. She is also a graduate of the LDS Seminary. Marlin graduated from high school and seminary and is presently enrolled at Brigham Young University. He re-cently returned from an LDS mission in the Great Lakes area. BIrs. Leo Cutler is spending two weeks at Sacramento, Calif., visiting her son Lt. Har old Cutler stationed there with the Air Force and his wife Glenna and three children. Riding club at dinner-meetin- g Wives of Hobble Creek Rid-ing club members joined their husbands for dinner and the regular monthly meeting date Wednesday evening at Melody Inn. Hasting Smith was in charge of arrangements for the dinner and President Sam Kin-se- r presided. The entertainment featured Alma Miner who showed a number of interesting colored slides of the railroad oil tank fire and scenes taken at the time of the flood in 1952. Judd will be hostess to members of the Home Culture club Friday at 3 p.m. and will be assisted by Mrs. John A. Judd, Ladies Literary Club The final meeting of the club year for Ladies Literary club members will be this evening at the home of Mrs. T. E. Crandall. Dr. Richard Miner will be the speaker on Community Development. Lady Lions give dinner for daughters Daughters of Lady Lions were special guests at a din ner and program Wednesday evening of last week, at the Third-Nint- h ward hall. Eighty-seve- n members and guests at-tended. President Wanda Peay was in charge of arrangements as-sisted by other officers of the qrganization. A tribute to the daughters was given by Mrs. Gwen Cut-ler and her daughter Laura responded with a tribute to the mothers. Linda Christensen of Provo gave a hula-hoo- p de-monstration and a group from Spanish Fork, including Mrs. Sherril Ottesen, Mrs. LeRoy Whitehead, Jr., Mrs. J. Ross Nielson, accompanied by Mrs. Haren Hallman, gave an amus-ing hat demonstration. .The dinner tables were beau-tiful for the occasion with centerpieces of iris and candles and tiny gum-dro- p nosegays made attractive favors. Each of the guests was presented with a pretty China ring box. Mothers Study Club has guest program The new Kolob Stake House was the setting for the Moth-ers Study annual program Fri-day afternoon to which they invited their daughters ' and other guests. Mrs. Beulah Whiting, Mrs. Nellie Burt, Mrs. Ella Reynolds, Mrs. Zel-m- a Beardall, Mrs. Lillian Cran-dall, Mrs. Ada B. Harrison and Mrs. Rena Roylance were hos-tesses. The program featured Mrs. Clifton Thayne of Provo in a rendition of her original verse. She was assisted by a vocal trio composed of Alden Thomp-son, Lois Weight and Jayce Strong with Joyce Loveridge, accompanist. President Gwen Tippetts in-troduced Beulah Whiting as program chairman and she welcomed the group, Philda Finley read the club collect. Mrs. Ella Reynolds (gave a tribute to the guests and a response was given by her granddaughter, Mrs. Lucille Mendenhall Huntsman. Luncheon was served at tables pretty with centerpieces of tulips and bridal wreath. The Sixth ward Relief Society served the luncheon. Forty eight members and guests were in attendance in-cluding the following guests of club members: Helen Miner, Helen Crandall, Merle Packard, Thelma Carter, Nadine Bis-mar- k, Pat Whiting, Jessie Dal-to- n, Lenore Livingston, Lura Patrick, Lula Mendenhall, Rea Straw, Eva Johnson, Dickie Jane Sargent, Julia Cherring-ton- , Mattie Crandall, Gertrude Sumsion, Lucille Huntsman, Donna Anderson, Lula Nielson, Marilyn Crandall, Nadine Smith. Each guest was presented with a cosmetic gift. Mr. and Mrs. Rufus Averett of this city had as guests a few days last week, Mr. and Mrs. F. P. Whitmore, Mrs. Elmer Kettle and Brigham Whitmore of Neola. They came also to attend the funeral ser-vices for George N. Whitmore Legion Auxiliary entertains guests Legion Auxiliary members and guests were entertained Wednesday evening at Memor-ial Hall with President Marva Davis presiding and welcoming the group. She also introduced Mrs. Dennis E. Robinson as chair-man of the program and Mrs. Robertson gave a fitting tri-bute to mothers and guests. Mrs. Jay Nielson entertain-ed with an interesting and well given story, "The Troub-led Heart," by Vernon Ware. Other program numbers includ-ed vocal duets and solo num-bers by Mrs. LaMar Clark and Mrs. Raymdnd Dunn with Mrs. Ed Forshee, accompanist. Each guest was presented with a plant and the meeting closed with .refreshnients ser-ved by hostesses: LaPreal Friel, Emma Gardner, Minnie Groesbeck, Helen Crandall, Eva Curfew, Margie Davis, Mar-garet Campbell, Beth Coffman, Eudora Jensen, Delia Hutton, Stella Harmer, Donna Harmer, Hazel Hafen and Kate- Holley.
