Springville Jaycees retiring from State offices and chair-manships this year are: Edgel Oldroyd, V.P.; Bill Jones, State Chairman of Public Relations, and Paul Willis, State Chair-man of Records and Recogni-tion. A large delegation of Spring-ville Jaycees and Jaycee Wives traveled to Price the past weekend to attend the Silver Anniversary Utah State Jr. Chamber of Commerce Conven ors, Presidents LaMar Smith and Paula Jones pledged the Springville organization to a continuance of their programs tion. The Springville organiza-tion captured high honors and recognition for their civic ser-vice activities in Springville the past year, receiving the highly coveted "Project of the Year" award. They were in competition with all entrants in the state regardless of pop-ulation, for the recently com-pleted Diabetes testing pro-gram in this city. In Division 1 (population to 15,000) Springville Jaycees were awarded 2nd place in Community Health and Safety; and 3rd place in both Internal Affairs and Youth and Sports Activity. The Jaycee Wives were also honored in receiving both awards given to Jaycee Auxil-iaries. One, the Bea Poe Me-morial Award for the outstand-ing auxiliary of the year, Div-ision 1, and the Murray award for Outstanding Attendance and participation 'at State Con-vention. Only one such award is given in the state. Among featured speakers at the convention were: Barry Goldwater, U. S. Senator from Arizona; Governor of Utah, George Dewey Clyde; Mayor of Price and past Utah State Jaycee President Bill Welsh, Jr.; past Utah Jaycee Presi-dent and National Jaycee Chairman of Governmental Af-fairs. Carman Kipp of Salt Lake City; Past State Jaycee President and District Attor-ney Boyd Bunnell of Price.
