Show Experiences provide reading need to aid in newer teaching method by Delia A. McClellan Nebo School District Primary Grade Supervisor The teachers of Nebo School District are careful to extend the reading program beyond basic books by using materials of local and current interest. Children's first hand experiences experien-ces lead them to reading for information, reading for enjoy- ment, and reading to communicate commun-icate with others. The whole classroom environment is one of a reading nature. The news-board, news-board, charts, letters, labels, announcements, plans, group and individual stories and poems ,all function to give purpose for reading. This means that there will be an abundance of on-going experiences exper-iences in the classroom such as hatching chickens, caring for and learning about a pet, visiting visit-ing historical landmarks and collecting articles old and new. Out of these experiences evolve purposes for writing and reading. read-ing. Children write so that others might read those writ- ings and thus communicate better with each other.
