Show Club hears talk on conservation Leaders and Trends in Conservation, Con-servation, was the subject of an interesting paper presented by Mrs. Harold Christensen, at the Ladies Literary club meeting meet-ing Thursday evening. Rea Straw was hostess and served a tray luncheon before the program. Julia Sumsion entertained enter-tained with piano music-Chairman music-Chairman of the Department of Conservation of the GFWC, Mrs. Christensen gave much fine material and information gained through her study of the subject, telling of the work being done today to conserve natural resources. She paid tribute to leading conservationists among them, Utah's Secretary of Agriculture, Agricul-ture, Ezra Taft Benson and Brigham Young, both of whom are recognized nationally for their work in conservation. Programs on conservation which have changed with the years, date back to 1685, Mrs Christensen said, as she told of present day projects to conserve con-serve water, land, minerals, trees, bird and animal life, in this and other states. The club collect was read by Mrs. Oliver H. Dalton and Mrs. E. T. Crandall reported on the Legislative Council meeting. - Mrs. F. c. Packard, club vice-president, conducted short business 'in which it was decided de-cided to assist with the State Hospital Christmas project. Next meeting of the club was announced for December 15, to be a Christmas party at the home of Mrs. Paul Thorn in Orem. Mrs. John Blanchard had fourteen members of her family fam-ily at dinner Sunday, the occasion oc-casion celebrating the birthday birth-day of her son Don. Special guests also were a daughter and son-in-law, Mr. and Mrs. G. E. Pulsipher and daughter ousan ana son Brent of Denver, Den-ver, Colo., and a son John C. enrolled at the BYU; also Mr. and Mrs. Don Blanchard and children Eloise, John C, and Paul and Mr. and Mrs. D. Rex Blanchard and son Mark. The Pulsiphers returned Sunday by way of Gunnison, Colo., to visit a daughter and son-in-law. While in Utah, Mr. Pulsipher visited his folks in Provo and also attended a meeting of church athletic directors in Salt Lake. Mr. and Mrs. Roland Old-royd Old-royd enjoyed a visit three days last week from Mrs. Oldroyd's brother and wife, Lt. Col. and Mrs. W. C. Herbert who came from Ladd Air Force Base at Fairbanks, Alaska. |
