Attending the party were Mr and Mrs. Lyman Weight, Mr. and Mrs. DeVere Weight nd family; Mr. and Mrs Tom Randall and family of Centerville; Mr. and Mrs Woodrow Weight, Mr. and Mrs. Leo Weight, Mr. and Mrs. La-M- ar Weight and family; Fred Weight and the guests of hono: and family. Leah Mae Averett, daughter of Mr. and Mrs. Von Averett is among those making prepar-ations to leave for the annual event. She is a graduate of the BYU and has signed a con-tract to teach third grade at Tooele the coming school year. All who go from the various communities to take part in the pageant must have been active in church work and must be recommended by their bish-op. Those taking part from here will board a special bu: in Salt Lake City Friday even-ing and will be gone three weeks. Springville will be well rep-resented in the famous Hill Cumorah pageant to be pre-sented early in August at Pal-myra, New York. In addition to the Springville missionaries in that area, who assist with the annual production, six girls are planning to leave here Fri-day evening to take part. Carolyn Sumsion, daughter of Mr. and Mrs. LaCelle Sum-sion will be a member of the cast. A former student of the BYU, she has been employed the past year as a private sec-retary for Douglas Aircraft at Inglewood, Calif., and plans to resume her studies at the BYU this fall. Roberta Booth, daughter of Mr. and Mrs. Robert Booth has signed to go, leaving her sec-retarial work at the BYU where she was also a student last year. Two others who are looking forward to a vacation and sight-seein- g trip along with the experience of taking part in the pageant are: Colleen San-for- d, daughter of Mr. and Mrs: Howard Sanford and Lynette Huff, daughter of Mr. and Mrs. Lynn Huff. Pat and Wayne were mar-ried at the home of his parents, Mr. and Mrs. C. Alden Johnson of Provo, with Bishop Earl Child of the Springville Sev-enth ward officiating. The young couple are mak-ing their home in Springville while Wayne continues his education at the Central Utah Vocational School. Being tired often causes peo-ple to be broke often. Peace Officers Dinner Guests Mr. and Mrs. H. M. Weight were hosts at a chicken din-ner at their summer cottage at Kellys for members of the Springville police force and their wives and other members of the law enforcement force. Horse-sho- e pitching and visi-ting took up the time before and after dinner with the fol-lowing enjoying the evening: Mr. and Mrs. Art Child, Mr. and Mrs. Ray Davis, Mr. and Mrs. Ashley Graham, Mr. and Mrs. Howard Allan, Mr. and Mrs. J. F. Wingate, Mr. and Mrs. Bill Duncan, Mr. and Mrs. Reed Rigtrup, Miss Naomi Weight and Mont Rowley of Provo and the host and hostess. ' Mrs. Emil Malmberg, the former Maurine Francis and five children of Los Altos, Cal., are visiting at the home of Mrs. Malmberg's mother, Mrs. Barbara Francis in Springville for two or three weeks. Mr. Malmberg is in New Mexico, employed as an engineer on a construction job and the fam-ily will stay here until his work is completed. 7th Ward Elders Give Lawn Party Thirty five people enjoyed a lawn party and social at the home of Mr. and Mrs. Sheldon Nielson Friday evening, given by the Seventh ward Elders Quorum presidency for mem-bers and their partners. Presi-dent Stewart Ivie was in charge of arrangements assist-ed by Counselors Erwin Ander-son and Lloyd Barker. Games and a luncheon were diversions of the evening. Mem-bers of the ward bishopric and their wives were special guests. Retiring Officers Of R.S. Honored Moods, Melodies and Memo-ries themed a program and social honoring the Third ward Relief Society retiring presi-dent, , Mrs. Pearl Smith and other officers recently in the Third ward hall. Various scenes in the life of Mrs. Smith were presented by Mrs. A. B. Gore, JoAnne Dun-can, Jean Snow, Dan and Nan Harrison, Marie Webb and Elaine Erickson, Appropriate piano music was given by Oleah Sargent and Dick Cono-ve- r and Laura Wight sang several accompanying songs. The program was prepared and presented by the new pre-sident, Mrs. Melva Harrison, who also presented the retiring president with a lovely silk quilt made by the members. Mrs. Clara Boyer read an ori-ginal tribute. Assisting Mrs. Harrison with the serving of refreshments at the close of the program were other new officers, Mrs. Emma Jacobsen and Mrs. Lillian Thorpe, counselors and Mrs. Josephine Duncan, secretary. yjeuA rioted ... Cleo Heavener and Alzada Wilmott are home from a vaca-tion trip to Idaho and Jack-son, Wyo. They spent a week at Lava Hot Springs resort and from there went to Tetonia, where Cleo visited a niece, Mrs. Lois Hales McCulloch and husband on a huge wheat ranch and Alzada visited a friend, Alice Hansen. They al-so spent some time at Jackson, Wyo. and at Bear Lake in Lo-gan canyon. Enroute home, they stopped also at Smithfield where they visited Mrs. Hea-vener- 's sister, Mrs. Wendell Perkins (Jessie) & family and with other friends in Logan. Guests at the home of Mr. and Mrs. J. A. Miller Thurs-day and Friday of last week were Mr. Miller's sister and husband, Mr. and Mrs. George Rodger who were enroute to their home in Los Angeles from a trip to Colorado. Mr. and Mrs. Vernon Cook and family returned recently from an enjoyable vacation trip to New Mexico. |
