Binks j Phone HUnrsr 9-5875 j Mrs. George Powell, the former for-mer Elaine Whiting, spent several sev-eral days at the home of her parents, Mr. and Mrs. Jim Whiting. While she was here she attended her High School Class reunion, the class of '43, which was held at the new Junior high school in Spring-ville. Spring-ville. Elaine is now making her home in Ogden. A "Come As You Are" breakfast was enjoyed by the members of the Busy Fingers Club at the home of Mrs. Gladys Johnson Friday morning. morn-ing. Twelve members of the club were picked up at eight o'clock without notice and transported to the Johnson home attired in everything from night gowns to levis. Mrs. Johnson and Annie Gividen, whose birthdays accurred during dur-ing the week, were presented with gifts. Guests included Gladys Parry, Ethel Jensen, Iva Snow, Bessie Thorn, Florence Flor-ence Stone, Martha Houtz, Jennie Jen-nie Tew, LaVerl Young, Zina Dibble, Hazel Binks and the honored guests. The home of Mrs. Florence Allan was the scene of an outgoing social for officers of the Mapleton Lady Lions. Honored Hon-ored guests were Beth Martin, president; Ila McKinnon, first vice president; Florence Allan, second vice-president, who were presented with gifts of appreciation. appre-ciation. New officers for the coming rear are Mrs. Ila McKinnon, Ruth Larsen, Gladys Johnson and Erma Hjorth. Visiting and refreshments concluded the evening. Mr. and Mrs. Burton War- enjoyed a rodeo at Evanston, Wyoming. Guests at the home of Mrs. Nell Wiscombe during the past week have been her sister and brother-in-law, Mr. and Mrs. Will Llewellyn of Rupert, Ida.; Mr. and Mrs. Donald Llewellyn and daughters, Karen and Cheryl Che-ryl of Burbank, Calif.; Mrs. Ella Ree Dahle and son, Joe from Newton and Mrs. Peggy Smith, Logan. Also visiting at her home have been her daughter and son-in-law, Mr. and Mrs. Thales Brown and son Jimmy of Paro-wan. Paro-wan. Mr. and Mrs. Kay Roberts and sons spent several days in Yellowstone Park. At the last Jaycee business meeting with Alfred Stringer in charge, final arrangements for sports and games for the Twenty Fourth were made. A car wash was also planned for the 23rd which will be held on the school grounds. Cars will be picked up and delivered, if desired. Proceeds will be used for civic improvements. A steak fry was enjoyed by 22 members of the Mapleton Jaycees and their wives recently recent-ly in Maple Canyon Park. General Gen-eral arrangements were made by Alf Stringer assisted by Ross Barney, Don . Roundy. Johnny Bleggi, Roland Hanson and Paul Jensen. Mrs. Jessie Larsen is in the Utah Valley Hospital where she underwent surgery last week. Her condition is reported as critical. Young John Crandall is home after spending several weeks in the Utah Valley Hospital for infection. Cal Johnson has been released releas-ed as the superintendent of the Mapleton Ward Sunday School and will be sustained as president presi-dent of the Elders Quorum. Norman Barker will be the new Sunday School supt. and Grant Norwood and Clip Taylor Tay-lor will be retained as counselors. coun-selors. Several Mapleton families spent Sunday at Lagoon where they attended the All State Italian Day. The Bleggi and Antoneno families, the Carne-, secca families and the Perrero families were among those who attended. Special feature on the program was music furnished by Dick Cantino and his wife Leigh Snoden of California. Guests at the home of Mr. and Mrs. Toni Antoneno during the past week have been their son Joe Bleggi and Mrs. Fay White of San Francisco, Calif. Mr. and Mrs. Lewis Bleggi have had the company of Mr. and Mrs. Howard Slygare of Texas for several days. Mrs. Daniel Decker and small son Kenneth are spending several sev-eral days with her mother, Mrs. Naomi Beardall. She and her husband have been making their home in Champaign, 111., where he has been attending the University of Illinois at Urbana. They plan to make their home in Provo where Daniel will teach at the BYU this coming year. ren have returned from a week in Boulder, Colo., where Mr. Warren represented his labor union at the Rocky Mountain Labor School which was held at the University of Colorado. While in Colorado Mr. and Mrs. Warren visited Rocky Mountain Moun-tain Park in Denver, the Royal Gorge and other points of interest. in-terest. The Snazzy Stitchers held their eighth meeting under the direction of their leader Catherine Cath-erine Ann Jensen. Carol Jensen gave a demonstration on Safety Saf-ety in the home. They gathered gather-ed skirts and made waste baskets bas-kets to be used for the Twenty Fourth celebration. Refreshments Refresh-ments were served by Gayle Whiting and Carol Jensen. Mr. and Mrs. Jesse Everett and son Wynn are home after a four day vacation to Yellowstone Yellow-stone Park. Enroute home they |
