Show Governor Issues Statement on Farm Safety Veek In recognition of Farm Safety Saf-ety Week, Governor George D Clyde issues the. following statement: "The strength of this state and nation depends to a large extent on the health, prosperity and well-being 0f our farm anTf-H1 Th Prduce th food and fiber by which we live. "Each year, accidents suffered suffer-ed by rural inhabitants take a serious toll and handicap our agricultural effort. Last year in Utah there were 20 deaths some 3,000 injuries and an economic loss estimated at $2,500,000 attributed to acci dents on and around our farms. "President Eisenhower has called atention to the critical need for greater farm safety by proclaiming the week of July 20, 1958 as National Farm Safety week across the nation. "In view of the importance of the farm safety effort, and in cooperation with the President, Presi-dent, I therefore designate the week of July 20, 1958 as FARM SAFETY WEEK in Utah and earnestly urge that all precautions be taken to eliminate dangerous practices which can result in rural accidents, acci-dents, not only during Farm Safety Week but also through the other weeks of the year." |
