M. Price, at present stationed at Fort Douglas. Don is a ' real, sure-enough human bchi in one sense he has a taste for good cold laer beer. The story of how Don came to be a member of the "souse family' and to symparhize with those who recently adopted as their slogan 1 ' Xo beer, no work, may be briefly stated. A certain cer-tain lieutenant of the second cavalry stationed at Fort Ethan Allen, Vermont, Ver-mont, before being sent to France, was assigned the task of procuring a mascot mas-cot for the bachelor officers' club, of which he was a member. He happened to meet with Don, who at the time was busily engaged in lapping un the remains re-mains of a quart bottle of "Milwaukee special.'1 Don was immediately hired as mascot of the club, and, for that matter, is still holding down the job I Soon after Don's adoption, the Sec-J ond cavalry was ordered to France, and Captain Price was made custodian of the dog until such time as the bachelor club members shouM return. From Fort Allen. Don went to Fort D. A. Russell. Wyoming, thence to Fort Mver, Virginia, and is at present making mak-ing himself comfortable at Fort Douglas. Doug-las. In addition to his job as mascot of the aforementioned bachelor club, Doa holds the same position with the war prison guards. Chances are that in the verv near future he will start a campaign cam-paign to bring 2Vt per cent beer to Salt Lake, like unto that now in vogue at Boston and other cities, and if he is successful, Don will have the everlasting everlast-ing gratitude of hundreds of thirsty nerpons who hnve not found "near beer ' 1 to their liking.
