Show POSTAL BRANCH IS HALTED BY PROTESTS All preparations for opening the proposed pro-posed branch of the postouce have been delayed because of protests entered by business men of upper Alain street, according ac-cording to Noble Warrum, postmaster. It had been planned to open the branch on Regent street November 1, but the upper Main street business men protested to Washington and the mauer is now in abeyance, awaiting further action from the capital. Washington officials have said that the department will not pay the amount of rent asked for the Main street property, and it has been stated that a branch will not be established there unless a binding contract is entered into whereby the difference in what the government will pay for rent and what the property owners want Is to be paid for the term of a lease by the persons and firms interested in-terested in the upper Main street location. loca-tion.
