Show SILVER DISAPPEARS FROM CIRCULATION PARIS, Oct. 20. (By the Associated Press.) The disappearance of silver money from circulation has resulted in such a shortage of small change that many restaurants in Paris posted notices today that customers must make their own change or accept postage stamps In place of silver. There will appear tomorrow in the Official Of-ficial Journal a new law providing a penalty pen-alty of from ten days to six months' imprisonment im-prisonment and a fine of from 100 to 5000 francs for persons convicted of melting, recasting or otherwise demonetizing French specie. To these penalties Is added add-ed confiscation of any metal seized. . |
