Show ELY GUI HIGH M AT RUMUB MEET Harvey Lambert Leads; Herman Wise Wins Long-Run Long-Run Trophy. RUTH, Kev., June 25. At the regular Bhoot of the Star Pointer Gun club of Ruth, Harvey Lambert of Ely carried off the high average honors by smashing 135 out of 150, under conditions that were far from favorable, as the wind was very troublesome at times. This is Mr. Lambert's first appearance at the Star Pointer traps- in over a year, but he did not lose any of his cunning during dur-ing his layoff, his scores testifying that he can- pulverize most of the targets trapped for him. Herman Wise of East Ely sprung the "big surprise" and went home a very happy man. At the beginning of the shoot this was when the wind was getting get-ting in its work things looked dark for the "Jolly Old Cuss," for he only ac- ; counted for 15 in the first 25-target event and then downed 18 in the sec- I ond event. In the third and fourth events he broke 22 each time. He then announced that 24 would be the least he would break In the next attempt. He not only made his word good, but smashed them all. This gave him a run of 29 straight. Then the old boy "rared" up on his "hind legs" and calmly informed in-formed the "bunch" that he was going out to win the long-run trophy that has been offered for a run of 50 straight since March 2. Target . after target-some target-some tough ones, too crumbled under his unerring aim, until he came to the 24th. This one got away, but it was too late, for he had 52 straight to his credit. On June 29 the club will stage its Beginners' Be-ginners' shoot, and most of the boys will be on hand to give assistance to the novices. At least five men and five ladies la-dies must compete in order to award the prizes. The contest will be at 25 targets, and targets and shells will be furnished the beginners at cost. When the beginners' begin-ners' events have been finished, the club members will hold their regular 50-tar-get "shootfest," so bring out friend beginner be-ginner and make this shoot a big success. suc-cess.
