| Show SCHOOL LANDS no 0 sales tan t an nn be made for six Klont kills lis to the state board of land commissioners are receiving many applications for the purchase of lands they are not coming in so BO fast now however as they will after july let when hen all the plats plate will have been filed with the county treasurers treasur ers it is ex expected that after that date the boards office will be flooded with the applications the law on the subject specifies that six months from july let 1890 will be allowed in which persons can make application for land purchases this thie pro provision was inserted in order to give the people plenty of time in which to make application but financially to the state it is proving to be a boomerang because it precludes the sale eale of any lands until on and after january 1 1697 which is six months after july 1 1896 the board is unable to make any sales now from a fear of doing some would be applicant an injury and the possibility of incurring suits against the state for instance a man makes application next month for the purchase of a piece of land claiming certain rights another may have the same intention and I 1 bly alv better rights but knowing he has eix I 1 months in which to make his aepli cation until a month or two later if the board sold eold the land to the first applicant without giving the second one a hearing bearing as to his hia claims not only would the laws provision above referred to be broken but the second applicant would be wronged and the state would be liable to legal proceedings thus the law pre prevents ants the taking of any moneys money on account of pu purchasers chasers until after january News |
