Show A MERITED TRIBUTE. A few weeks ngo the Associated Press carried dispatches of more than usual length which told of the heroism of a dog which saved the lives of nearly near-ly 100 persons at a time of shipwreck. Necessarily, these dispatches dealt only with the ' ' straight news of the story "; but, even so. the deed was widely commented, com-mented, upon in the press, and many have been the touching tributes penned to this wonderful dog. The best of the;.1, perhaps, is the one paid by Fullerton 1. Waldo in the Philadelphia. Phil-adelphia. Ledger. .Mr. Waldo is peculiarly pecu-liarly equipped, to write on the subject, sub-ject, for not only was he recently a pas'w?nger on the ship which shortly afterward came to grief, but he also has had personal experience of the conditions condi-tions which he describes and a thorough knowledge of the training of the tyo of dog which, in this instance, performed per-formed so gallant a feat. Beginning his account. Mr. Waldo says that "'he must have a tor. id soul who is not thrilled by the story of what a tlog has just done on the befogged and ii. -bound western coast ot' Newfoundland New-foundland in saving tin1 lies ot' niu-'ly-two persons from a siiip i cel..
