Show Utah Welsh Population Is Sixth in U. S. UTAH is the sixth stato in the nation for the number of Welsh people included in the population. According to figures presented in The Druid, a national Welsh publication, publi-cation, there were a total of 6367 Welsh residents of Utah. Of the total Welsh people in Utah 1672 were born in Wales; both parents par-ents of 19C5 were born in Wales, and one parent of the remainder, 2790, were foreign bom. The grand totals for the United States show that there are 218,947 Welsh residents of the country. Only 82,479 of these were foreign born, the rest having either one or both parents who camo to tills country from Wales. The list, according to The Druid, indicates the movement of Welshmen and their families into the coal and ore mining districts first, the steel and iron Industrial circles second, and lastly into the agricultural communities. |
