Roy Caglc, J t, of Puhl, is held in the county jail here, pending a hearing on a charge of shooting a woman in an automobile after being refused a ride. According to Probation Officer John R. A ul t, Cagle, with two other boys of the Hame age, spent some time Sunday shooting shoot-ing jack rabbits in the country some dista nee from Pnhi. Their sport having ended they hailed a car driven by Mr. ;imi Mrs. Fd ward Hayes and t wo mem- ' hers of their family and demanded a ride, to town. Mr. Hayes did. not stop. and. 1 it is asserted. Cagle became enraged and i sent a shot from a .-2-caliber riflo through j tlie back of the car. The bullet struck Mrs. Hayes in the lobe of the left ear and then sped through the windshield. Cagle's companions com-panions say they endeavored to stop him in his avowed intention of shooting. "I was shooting af rabbits," is the sta lemon t made by Cagle today. |
