Had Senators Gore, McCumbcr and other shoutcrs for $3 wheat had their way the fovernment would have been out of pocket an. additional half billion or more. Tho farmer is in big luck for the first time in his life, for no matter what happens to prices for other products he is sure of big money for all the wheat he can raise. If the acreage sown to winter wheat is large, the acreage sown to the spring variety will be still larger if peace is declared, which seems to be certain, We congratulate con-gratulate the wheat growers upon their good fortune, for they wero patriotic in timo of need. LUCKY FARMERS. The farmer who grows wheat is sitting sit-ting in the golden chair at the present moment. The government has guaranteed guaran-teed a high price for next year's crop. As a result of protection by federal regulation an unusual acreage has already al-ready been sown to winter wheat, run-1 ning as high as 50 per cent increase over last year in some sections of the country, and probably averaging 10 to 15 per cent on the whole.
