Show SECRETARY M'ADOO GOES THROUGH CITY William G. McAdoo. secretary of the United States treasury and director general gen-eral of railroads, passed quietly through Salt Lake yesterday noon on his way to San Francisco. The secretary arrived here in his private pri-vate car. "Western Maryland," and left immediately over the Western Pacific. He was accompanied only by his wife and family and secretary. The government official of-ficial slipped into Salt Lake unheraldei and so quietly that officials of the railroad rail-road did not know that he had gone through. He arrived on Denver & Rio Grande train No. 1 and went out over the Western Pacific five minutes later. He is making an inspection of western roads and seeking a brief period of complete rest from his manifold and trying duties at Washington. Senator Thomas Kearns met Secretary McAdoo at Elko, Nev. |
