A delightful bridge luncheon was given at the home of Mrs-W- . T. Rogers Monday honoring Mrs. Richard T. Smith on her birthday, the occasion also being the fourth annual Christmas party enjoyed by the guest of honor, Mrs. Hardy Odell, Mrs. E. V. Knudsen, Mrs. J. D. Knud-sen and the hostess. The Christ-mas tree held gifts for each guest and Mrs. Smith received some more; Christmas greeting, Miss Ethel Richards; instrumental quintet, French horns and trump-et, Paul Parissenti. Robert Sid-dowa- y, Ray Pett, Audrey Groves and Mildred Warner; two ac-cordion ducts, Lawrence and Bil-ly Pino; remarks by the retiring board member, Gwynne Page; remarks by the new board mem-ber, W. Cyrus Vawdrey. Miss Helen Loveless of Salt Lake City spent last week-en- d with her parents, Mr. and Mrs. P. O. Loveless. Austin Loveless, a student at the University of California at Berkeley, came homo Sunday to spend the holidays with Mr. and Mrs. P. O. Loveless. Mrs. P. O. Loveless and sons, Austin and Duane, visited Wed-nesday in Lehi with Mrs. Love-less' mother, Mrs. A. Gudmunsen. Mrs. Guy Murray and Mrs- - M. A. Stuart of Sandy were cohos-tesso- s at a bridge luncheon given at the home of Mrs J. F. Mead in Salt Lake City Tuesday. At-tending from Copperton were Mrs. James Denver, Mrs- Ray Buckle, Mrs. Mike Brisk and Mrs. Harry Sours. Prizes went to Mrs. Denver, Mrs. Brisk and Mrs. Mead won consolation- The party was a housowarming and Mrs- - Mead received some nice gifts for her home. Mrs. Tory Tobiason was hos-tess at a club Christmas party and a farewell party for Mrs Loren Stokes last Thursday ev-ening. Bridge was played until a late hour when refreshments were served- The eight present exchanged Christmas gifts and presented Mrs. Stokes with a lovely going away gift- Mrs. Stokes won both first and honor prizes and Mrs. M. D- Starley won second prize. Mr. and Mrs. Wayne Hansen had as dinner guests Sunday Mr. and Mrs- Earl Peterson of Wan-shi- p, formerly of Bingham. O birthday gifts ana also the high prize. Relief society was held Thurs-day evening at the grade school with Mrs. Joel P. Jensen in charge of the literary lesson- - Mr. and Mrs. E. V. Knudsen and son, Jack, spent Sunday at the home of Mrs. H. M. Rasmus-se- n in Salt Lake City. Tuesday evening dinner guests at the Albert Cheever home were Mr. and Mrs- - Cal Christensen and Mr. and Mrs. Bishop of Salt Lake City. Lovely original invitations from Miss Norma Nix, Miss Mar-jori- e Brimhali and Miss Jean Bingham, room mates at the B.Y-U-- , to attend a Christmas party at their apartment in Pro-vo on Wednesday evening were received by Mr. and Mrs- - Geo-rge M. Nix, Mr. and Mrs. Charles Brimhali, Darlene Nix, Betty Brimhali and Adiene Hudson. Mr. and Mrs. H. M. Rasmussen of Bingham visited in Copperton and Salt Lake City at their par-ents' homes Monday. A buffet supper following the Senior Hop Friday evening was served at the home of Mr. and Mrs. Odell Peterson. Present were Mr. and Mrs. T. Miss Margaret Ireland, secre-tary at the high school, is leav-ing Saturday for Phoenix, Ariz-- , to spend the entire school holi-day season. A banquet for Jordan district principals and members of the board of education and their partners brought seventy-fiv- e to the Bingham high school Tues-day evening. The Home Econo-mics department under Miss Vcr-n- a Walker arranged the dining room, which was beautifully de-corated, and served the dinner-Principa- l T. H. McMullin made the welcoming address. McDon-ald entertained at six o'clock dinner Sunday evening. Guests included Mr. and Mrs. George E. Bowen, Mr. and Mrs. Max Du-Boi- s, Mrs. R. G. Frazier and Miss Bessie Hansen of Provo Mr. and Mrs. Glen Nell and son, Larry, of Goldendale, Wash., are guests at the home of Mr. and Mrs. R. P. Nell for the Christ-mas holidays. Dr. H. C. Jenkins, Elliott W. Evans, Max DuBois, Joe Berger and J. William Grant were guests of James H. McDonald Friday evening. O Lark Notes r-- Colorful Christmas decorations on homes in Lark are evidences of the holiday spirit. Outstand-ing are the George E. Bowen and R. P- Nell residences- Much in-terest is being shown in the com-munity Christmas tree, donated by the Boy Scouts of Troop No. 114, which is to be decorated and lighted this week. After the Scouts, accompanied by Scout-masters Harold Draper and Tony Bullock, obtained the tree they went on a swimming party to Salt Lake City. A delightful Christmas party honoring members of the Five Hundred club was held Tuesday evening with Mrs. Ila Coombs as hostess. Prizes at cards went to Mrs. Norma Halliday, Mrs. Jen-ny Ball and Mrs. Frank Sweat-Present-were exchanged. Mrs- Max DuBois entertained at seven o'clock bridge dinner Friday at her home. Miss Mabel Neprud, Miss Jenny Buchman, Miss Verr Baer, Miss Verena Graham, Mrs. Elliott W- Evans, Mrs. J- William Grant and Mrs. J. H. McDonald were guests-Mis- Buchman won high score prize. Mrs. Harold Nielsen of Cop-perton entertained the Lark Bridge club at her home Thurs-day evening. Prizes at bridge went to Mrs. George Walker of Herriman, Mrs. Wallace Peter-son and Mrs. Robert Sonne, Mid-night refreshments were served twelve. Mr. and Mrs. Max DuBois were called to Pocatello, Idaho, Sat-urday by illness of Mrs. DuBois' father, Jack Fail. The DuBoises returned home Sunday. Leo Wilcox of San Francisco, a former Lark resident, was re-called into the U. S. navy, ac-cording to word received here. Mr. and Mrs. Wayne D. Mrs. Arthur Cook arranged a family dinner December 8 which honored her husband on his birthday. Present were Mr. and Mrs- - Leo Cook and daughter, Deanna Dea, of Salt Lake City; Mr. and Mrs. Floyd Cook and family of Orem; Mr. and Mrs. William Cook and daughters. Miss Louise Rogers of Salt Lake City underwent a major operation Monday morning at Bingham hospital. Her condition is reported as improving. Mr. and Mrs. Elmer Allen of Sandy, formerly of Highland Boy, were guests at the Highland Boy Community House Sunday. Miss Marie Button and Miss Alice Brown, deaconesses at the Community House, will leave Sunday to spend the holidays in Yukon, Okla., and Kansas City, respectively. Mrs. M. D. Starley entertain-ed her foursome Monday even-ing at bridge. Mrs. J. J. Doyle, Mrs. L. E. Milner and Mrs. Jack Davidson were present-Mis- Althea Christensen, clerk at the local post office, has been very ill at her home at 1139 Den-ver street, SaU Lake City, with influenza pneumonia. Miss Morinda Grange and Miss Lenore Lee, teachers at High-land Boy school, are leaving to-day to spend the Christmas holi-days with their families in Price and Escalantc, respectively. |
